Watch: Highlights of nine-goal 2020-21 campaign show why Milan wanted Junior Messias

By Oliver Fisher -

There were some eyebrows raised when AC Milan decided to push ahead with a deal for Junior Messias of Crotone on deadline day.

A statement on the club’s official website confirmed that Milan have signed Messias from the Serie B side on loan with an option to buy that can be activated in summer 2022. He netted 9 goals in the league last season as Crotone were relegated without much of a fight, adding 4 assists, and CompsACM have put together his best bits below.

  1. I believe that this guy is going to be good and helpful to Milan. He’s so skillful and very fast.
He’s gonna prove those doubting him wrong.

I’m wishing you all da best in the Rossoneri colours MESSIAS 30 ❤️🖤

    1. A good signing. Top player . Suso was the last Milan player to so much on the right wing. Welcome JNR MESSIAS. Can’t wait to see you against Lazio,Liverpool, Atletico, Juve, inter,Atlanta,Lazio etc. 13 goal contribution for last season. If we had this efforts from our right wing . Milan should be unstoppable. I expect him to even do more than 13 with Milan this season. Well done Maldini and Co.

      Forza Milan…

  2. Messias is a for sure upgrade to Samu but he’s not the world beater we were expected to sign at either AM or RW. People need to stop criticizing Messias as he should be a solid player, but rather criticize management for not getting one top class attacker this off-season at AM or RW.

It’s hard when you start off the mercato hoping for De Paul at AM and Berardi at RW (and failed to get Chiesa last season) and instead end up bringing back Diaz as the AM starter, keeping Samu, and bringing in Messias…. That’s why people are upset. Not because of Messias himself.

    1. I appreciate we all want Milan to be the Milan of old when it comes to quality of players but we do not have the finances and the means to attract players. We need a few years of CL football. Milan is no position to spend €30m+ on a single player. DePaul went for €35 (plus commissions etc.). Chiesa went for nearly double that. We need a solid squad and then look at adding some top end players. Since 2012/2013 we’ve been in decline. You can’t undo nearly a decade in 12-18 months. It will take another 18-24 months before Milan can make those types of signings (provided we have a new owner).

There are limitations as to what Maldini and Massara can do. Only the top PL clubs can pay ridiculous wages and as for Sporting Director, surely leonardo has the easiest job in the world! If Milan was owned my Qatar I’m sure next summer you’d see Mbappe and Haaland, and that’s just the attack.

Almost all the players Maldini and Massara have brought in have gone up in Value, we finished second last year. I’d have like another striker but again they cost more than any other position so I understand. For the money spent Giroud seems an absolute bargain and Pellegri needs to stay fit and I’m sure he can be the wonder kid he was just a few years ago.

Between Hernandez, messias, Diaz, I expect around 25goals to add to ibra and Oliviero’s total. So for the budget we have and the money we can spend I doubt anyone can do better.

Remember the Mercato with Fassone and mirabelli? Over 200m spent on mostly junk!
