Watch: Ibrahimovic gives spine-tingling speech to squad before flipping table over

Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave a rousing speech to the squad in the dressing room after they won the Scudetto at the Mapei Stadium last night.

In many ways Ibrahimovic and Sassuolo are synonymous with the journey that Milan have been on in the last two and a half years. The Swede scored a brace in Reggio Emilia in the 2019-20 season which resulted in a 2-1 win, and after the game it was announced that the club had decided to extend Stefano Pioli’s contract rather than hire Ralf Rangnick.

It has been an incredible journey over the past couple of seasons and it culminated with a sensational end to the 2021-22 season, with six wins out of six to secure a 19th league title and 9 clean sheets out of the last 11 games.

Ibrahimovic spoke to the team in the dressing room after the game and gave a spine-tingling speech, congratulating the squad and the management, ending by flipping the table over.

“When we started the first day, when I arrived, not many believed in us. When we understood to make sacrifice, suffer, believe and work… when this moment entered we became a group, and so it is possible to do these things we did,” he said.

“Today we are Italian champions, I want to thank the players and, I speak on behalf of everyone, we also want to thank Paolo [Maldini], Ricky [Massara] and Ivan [Gazidis]. It was not easy, but we fought as a group.

“At the beginning none he believed in us and with these words we became stronger. I am very proud of all of you. Now, however, do me a favour: celebrate as champions because Milan is not Milan, but Italy is Milan.”
