AC Milan starlet Mattia Liberali scored both goals for Italy’s U19 side in the 2-2 draw against Spain on Saturday evening, showcasing his qualities.
Along with Francesco Camarda, Liberali has been one of the most talked about talents in the Milan academy for years now. The start of this season was a bit difficult, failing to cement his spot with the Futuro, but he has regained his groove now.
Playing from start against Spain last night in the U19 Euro qualifiers, Liberali found the back of the net twice. First from the spot, a penalty he won himself, and then with a great header. The latter was especially impressive given his relatively small size.
It should be noted that Vittorio Magni and Emanuele Sala, who also play for Milan, were on the pitch for the full 90 minutes. The former also bagged the assist for Liberali’s second goal with a really good cross. You can see the highlights from the game below.
We need to create space for him & Camarda. Last summer, there was a youth championship Italy won in which he shined & Camarda bagged the MVP.
A certain Nwaneri shined for England too.
That Nwaneri, same age as Liberali, is absolutely flying for title-chasing, albeit a faltering one, Arsenal side.
Eight goals already with two in the UCL. Another Myles Lewis-Skelly (18) is flying with the senior team too. Just made his England debut a couple of days ago.
We’ve wasted way too much money on players that have offered a far less ROI. Might as well give these boys a few chances. If they don’t deliver, no issues. At least there was no transfer fee involved.
I forgot to add Bartesaghi & Zeroli as well.
I hundred percent agree with you Bro 👍
This is a cultural problem in Italy, which du why it won’t change unless Milan have certain types of people in leadership positions. Italian coaches wmakd sporting directors will never have the courage to play young teenagers off the bench. I think a German is needed to change this
We actually started doing it with Fonseca, you saw he gave Liberalli his debut, and with Fonseca also Camarda played quite a lot.
100% agree! We need to include youth in the squad. It’s not like we are not short of talent!
It’s definitely a cultural problem. Even a lot of the smaller sides you’d expect to develop youth are instead filled with older foreign players.
It’s no wonder young players favor the Bundesliga these days. They give youth multiple chances to develop. France as well.
Hence why it seems like yearly they churn out young talents as if they are factory-made.
This also translate to having a strong national team because of the options.
Look at the options in the French national team.
Look at the young stars setting Europe alight these days and you’ll find, at the very least, one from the top European footballing nations except Italy. The factory seems to have been shutdown after Donnarumma was produced.
Unlike Barca with Yamal and others we choose to somehow focus on garbage. Why Luca Jovic a toxic boy is still not sold and we do not ha e these two youngster in the bench goes beyond my comprehension.
Get these guys in the team, we are getting mediocre performance anyways, what do you habe to lose
The Current Milan is absolutely a wasteful club
They have home grown Italian gems, but they chose to buy Emerson, Mussahh, Lots’f cheat, Bamdoo etc diversity picks. Hahah
Camarda, liberali, magni, CB Dorian paloschi, LB bartesaghi, Emanuel sala, GK lorenzo torriani. There’s lots of talent from Milan youth squad. It could be like Milan 90-00 tenure. Why the management always ask for raw players from anywhere and based on scout / video / MoneyYourBall ?
This youth squad if blended with pulisic / reijnders, leao, theo. Would be amazing. I guess…
