Malick Thiaw is in demand and AC Milan could cash in on him this summer to fund a move for a new centre-back, a report claims.
According to Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), Thiaw could leave in the summer together with Fikayo Tomori. The switch to a three-man defence was one that the German hoped would guarantee him a starting spot, and yet he now seems to be at the bottom of the pecking order.
Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic are more certain to stay for 2025-26 and beyond, therefore. Thiaw meanwhile is reportedly being monitored by Bundesliga teams such as Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen and others.
However, the Premier League may be an option for the former Schalke man because West Ham are ‘very interested’ in acquiring him. Faced with a significant offer of around €30m, Thiaw could be sold, and it would fund his replacement too.
Who could arrive in his place? Milan are said to be observing young defenders such as Diego Coppola (Verona), Caleb Okoli (Leicester City) and Cristhian Mosquera (Valencia).
Defensive depth is important, especially when playing three centre-backs, so it remains to be seen if the management plan to make just one addition in the event of an exit.
If it’s true, please Milan have no money next season. They should open big sale in the summer 🏝️🌞
We can get an easy 40-50mill from any Premier league side why price ourselves cheap?
exactly… 35-40M is the range to target
Get Comuzzo and Copola to complete the CB roster. Add Ricci and subs for our wingers (Mikautadze and a creative RW that can operate as CAM)
Please no more Ricci fan boys again.. he’s overrated..
These kind of stories are going to kill me. We don’t even know if we will have the same coach or play the same formation next season. Why does the management keep trying to meddle in our defense? Simic, Kalulu, and Calabria were let go. That only cost money and created more problems. We have four solid center backs and they’re trying to sell one or two of them. Meanwhile, we have only one player who has proven himself in midfield. ONE! An injury to Reijnders and the team would collapse. Coach first! Midfield second! Striker third! Right back fourth! This management really need to get their priorities straight. Center back has been the least of our issues the past four seasons.
I might get the hate, but of those CBs we have i would rather cash in on Pavlovic. Yeah, he show some heart and that’s the only thing i see in him, but he is a liability when it comes to positioning and speed. For example, he got turned inside out versus Yeboah and Venezia. But first, the club need to figure out who is going to be the DS and Coach
