Tuttosport: Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen eyeing move for Milan defender Thiaw

Malick Thiaw has ended up on the wish list of both Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, with AC Milan eyeing a payday in the summer. Meanwhile, Fikayo Tomori is also attracting interest from abroad.

Given the disappointment this season, currently 9th in the league, some changes are expected in the summer and we could see at least one in defence. According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), both Thiaw and Tomori have attracted interest from abroad.

Starting with the former Schalke 04 man, a return to Germany could be on the cards as Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have him on their respective wish list. At the age of 23 and still with a lot of untapped potential, it’s clear that he won’t leave the Rossoneri for cheap (we would be talking about a significant capital gain too).

In the last few weeks, Thiaw has also lost his spot in the starting eleven despite Milan playing with a three-man backline, so a departure in the summer is far from unlikely. Indeed, the centre-back dilemma is something the new sporting director will have to deal with immediately.

As the newspaper concludes, after the concrete links in January, Tomori could also become an option for Premier League clubs and this time out, he might not refuse a move.

  1. i would let him go for 35-40M, I would get Comuzzo and use Adli-Sottil swap to sweaten the deal.

Sottil would be LM sub, Pavlovic-Gabbia-Comuzzo as CB trio and Coppola should also be pursued for depth. Walker and Tomori being the other subs in defense.

by paying 10-15M (+Adli+Thiaw) we fix CB and LM/RM situation. Alexis also rejoining for free.

  2. I don’t agree that both Thiaw and Tomori will both leave. One yes, but two know.
    Gabbia and Pavlovic should
    be NOT FOR SALE.
I hope that they bring a New
    Young ltalian Centre-Back
    Scalvini, Camuzzo, Okoli and
Luca Ranieri. 26Y which is a Lefti and can play LB and LM is my favourite. Keith 🇲🇹

    1. Scalvini has been out for a while, I am hesitant. Also he will be in the 55 to 60 mill Euro range with Atalanta. Remember Caldara? Injured players, out for prolonged periods are a huge gamble. We are direct rivals for Europe so our price tags get boosted 8 to 15 million versus foreign teams. Yet we give them cut price deals on the likes of CDK. They are out of their depth at Casa Milan.

      1. Comuzzo + Coppola all we need and Thiaw can be sold. was never going to stay for long. Also we bought him for 7M, if someone is paying us 35-40M, grab the money and run back to Malpensa. Bennacer got sold for 12M, so will Chukwueze and many more signings we keep for too long…

        starter:
        Pavlovic-Gabbia-Comuzzo

        subs:
        Tomori-Coppola-Walker

  3. Milan sell too cheap. We can see Tonali how actually was cheap acquisition for Newcastle.

    Thiaw ? Below 50m in cash – no sell…

  4. Sacrifices are inevitable with Thiaw and Tomori as most obvious first candidates. Bartesaghi should be fully promoted and can compete with Pavlović for that LCB. Then another young Italian like Coppola should be brought in. And I’m certain there will also be another foreigner with Mosquera being the prime candidate.

    Mosquera – Gabbia/Coppola – Pavlo/Bart

  5. As the game gets faster the club is looking to get rid of our defenders with pace to keep slow Gabbia with fans recommending slow Italian players to replace them with. No wonder ACM is struggling.

    1. So how did the pace of Tomori helped us in last two seasons? Constantly caught out of position. Pavlović as well. Pace without positional awareness is nothing. Gabbia is the best in that regard from our crop of defenders. And when you play 3 at the back you need one like Gabbia in the center for cover while the other two push further up.

Moreover, statistics from this season shows our defence was most solid when Gabbia was around. I should say do some research before you speak but this is clearly a biased anti Gabbia jibberish.

  6. We want to put a price of 50-60 million on him.
    Overpricing? Yes!
We don’t have to sell. These clubs have money. You want to make an investment? Pay the price.

The problem is that we are satisfied to get back what we paid. That’s not good enough. We need to be tougher to deal with. Not gifting away our players.

This is the only way to buy better players right now.
