Concerns grow over wet San Siro pitch but Milan-Verona set to go ahead as planned

By Euan Burns -

There was a chance that AC Milan’s clash with Verona could be postponed due to the incredible amount of rain falling on the San Siro pitch but they are set to begin as planned.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 CEST but with the heavy rain falling in Milan, there was an assumption that the game would have to be postponed whilst the pitch is addressed.

It is a surface that has been criticised a lot in recent years as it regularly cuts up during the season, but the heavy rainfall that has been experienced in Northern Italy in the past few days has led to a situation where the ball is not moving on the turf.

As can be seen in the video below, the warm-ups have not exactly gone to plan and there is a mixture of rain and hail coming down. Despite that, Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo says the game should go ahead as planned.
