L’Equipe (via MilanPress) talks about how 2025-26 will be one of the most important campaigns of Maignan’s career, both for club and country. The 30-year-old goalkeeper enters the season with his contract expiring at Milan after a difficult season and a rollercoaster summer, at least initially.

A recent poll on a sample of 1 000 French citizens (with 40% saying they’re football enthusiasts) concluded that 57% of French people would like a competition for the goalkeeper position between Maignan and Chevalier. L’Équipe has reported that according to their sources inside Clairefontaine, there is absolutely no question that Mike could lose his spot as he’s the undisputed starter and has full confidence from the French staff.
