Juventus' Italian coach Massimiliano Allegri

CM: Why Allegri’s Milan return is a possibility amid wait for right moment

Massimiliano Allegri is a possible candidate to replace Sergio Conceicao this summer, and a report has looked into the feasibility of him joining AC Milan once again.

When Stefano Pioli was heading out of the door, there were suggestions that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was looking at Allegri as an option to follow him. However, the coach was not chosen and instead, Paulo Fonseca led the club into this season.

Then, with Fonseca’s situation falling, Allegri was thrown into the mixer again, though he was again overlooked by the management. Now, at the third opportunity, the club could make a move for the Italian.

As Calciomercato.com write this afternoon, the coach from Livorno is waiting for ‘the right moment’ to take his next management job, ideally in Serie A, after turning down the opportunity to work in Saudi Arabia earlier this year.

Allegri knows Milano and the club well, having been there before, so he serves as a potential stop-gap opportunity for the Rossoneri, as they look to rebuild in the near future. Whilst maybe not the most exciting candidate, he knows Serie A and the relevant competitions, whilst also having knowledge in Europe.

For Furlani, it seems there are no better candidates at this moment, but the decision must be made in collaboration with the new sporting director, whoever that is to be.

    1. Whoever they bring in as the SD will tell us a lot about what direction Elliott will head in. Whether its a short term flip or a long term project.

  1. He’s Italian. Good start.
However, anything where Furlani has a hand in it you know it’s rotten.
Personally, I would have liked to have seen De Zerbi at the helm.

  2. Allegri. The one who plays the most unattractive football and has been nothing short of underwhelming… Greeaattt idea. Just make the fans not want to buy season tickets for next season.

  3. Milan won’t sack conceciao because we will win the copa Italia and finish in 5th position

So basically he wins 2 trouphy In just 6month so he will be considered to have a full season

  4. Come Allegra and save Milan. You are a reformer with attacking football. It’s a pleasure to watch your teams. Milan was the strongest in the 2010/11 and especially 2011/12 seasons. You managed to lose the second title. With Juventus, which was the strongest, and if Montella was the coach, he would have won all those titles. I remember two Champions League finals that you played bravely and lost because you were unlucky. Now you are young and full of ideas. The right coach for Milan. Welcome to summer.

Now let Koniseis finish the season. Let him do his work in peace until June.

  5. nothing will change for now. they will wait until the end of the season to change coach. if conceicao gets fired or leaves on his own (most likely) an interim manager will be appointed.
