MN: ‘The only one who cares’ – why Conceicao has started a ‘personal battle’ at Milan

One thing we have learned from Sergio Conceicao’s first month in charge is that he is not afraid to call out the things that he does not like.

MilanNews have published a piece titled: ‘Saving Private Sergio, the only one who (really) cares about Milan today’. They recall some of the phrases that he uttered after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Juventus, one of the worst second-half performances of the season.

“The first step to winning the game is wanting to win it,” he said. “Some have to do some soul-searching,” the Portuguese added. “They have to look in the mirror and decide what to do,” he went on. Finally: “We need to have an empty fridge at home to be hungrier.”

With the new coach in the dugout, it was believed that Milan had finally changed their attitude, but against the Old Lady we saw a passive and confused team that let Juve dominate, something Conceicao hated.

It feels like Conceicao has ‘started a personal battle against players and the club’, and during training on Sunday he urged the players to look after their own responsibilities, hoping to stimulate a reaction of pride in all of them.

Conceiçao intends to change things, but to do so he needs the support – financial and otherwise – of those above him, namely the club. Since his arrival there have already been several meetings about strategy, and the feeling is that he will not be happy with just Kyle Walker arrived.

There are 13 days left until the end of the winter mercato so there is still time, though the fact that Conceicao some friends in confidence that this is the team with the least character and desire to win that he has ever coached in his career says how much work is to be done.

  1. If we don’t qualify for the Champions league, entire board must be held responsible with their immediate layoffs.

Scaroni, Furlani, Ibra and Cardinale are nowhere near to run this club.
They are like combination of fraud and arrogance

    1. Well… Cardinale will stay as he’s “the owner” but sure, the rest should definitely be sacked. Actually, they should have been sacked with Fonseca already. Incompetent clowns – all of them.

  2. When Fonseca was having a revolution some people here thought he was an average coach. Now 4 games into his reign Conceicao is realising the real task ahead. For those who can’t think or who have issue with analytics. Let me bare it for you if you’d accept.

Leao, Theo, Tomori, Calabria(for lack of quality need to go the aforementioned three have reached thier ceiling with Milan, even if Conte were to come, there’s no hope for them. RLC, Chukwueze, Okafor, Abraham, need to be offloaded and maybe Bennercer and Morata if proper upgrade are sort.

Without this happening we’d be moving in circles, the team dipped the season we were champions some players just refused to work hard cus they knew they will make the match day list, that is where Pioli failed.

  3. Deep down, I envies Como for how they invest in players. I just wish we can have a good signing we shall always be proud of.

Though I understand that with 5 signings, there is possibility of having a Leao, Origi, Giroud. In other words, not all players with great potentials end up fulfilling it with ketelaere as a good example. And not all cheap signings will end up being a flop with Jovic as a good example… Don’t come at me please 😂😂😂
