It is not only AC Milan who want Rafael Leao to renew his contract as Lille also have an interest in how the situation is developing, a report claims.
Tuttosport (via SempreMilan.it) write how the Leao case involves several protagonists as Milan are grappling with the renewal of the Portuguese’s contract with both his agent Jorge Mendes and lawyer Ted Dimvula, all while Sporting CP are demanding the €19m fine.
Lille are also watching with interest, because they are entitled to 20% of the proceeds from a future resale of Leao on the basis of an agreement with Milan. That means there is a certain importance for the Ligue 1 side from a financial point of view.
If Leao were to run down his contract and leave for free it means Lille would be entitled to nothing, while even a sale next summer would probably not generate the same amount as a renewal and then a future sale, given the varying degrees of negotiating leverage.
Then better man up and pay half of Leao’s “fines” then!
