Leon Goretzka remains a name that AC Milan are exploring, but signing him on a free transfer will be a difficult mission.

According to Calciomercato.com, Goretzka has chosen not to renew his contract with Bayern Munich which means that he is available to agree a pre-contract with another club now. There are a few contenders in the race to land him, with Milan among them, and Massimiliano Allegri ‘pushing’.

Milan face uphill climb

Goretzka is currently in the midst of deliberations. The German midfielder has already decided and communicated to Bayern Munich his desire not to renew his contract, which expires on June 30, but he hasn’t yet chosen his next destination.

His agents have been listening to the offers received in recent weeks, but a decision is unlikely to be made anytime soon. The former Bochum and Schalke star wants to stay focused on this season and on the objectives he has to achieve with Bayern, who are aiming for the Treble.

According to reports in the English press, Goretzka has prioritised the Premier League and Arsenal, who are seeking quality midfield reinforcements. Manchester United and Tottenham are also interested, but need Champions League football.

The German currently doesn’t want to stay in the Bundesliga despite an offer from Bayer Leverkusen. Goretzka has an offer from Atlético Madrid on the table, while Milan are interested and they’ve been in talks for some time.

Giorgio Furlani and Igli Tare have been talking for some time with his agency, Roof, who also represent Niclas Füllkrug. Goretzka is wanted, regardless of Luka Modric’s decision, but the salary demands must be taken into account.

The 31-year-old wants over €5m net per year plus bonuses and commissions to sign with his next club. Qualification for next season’s Champions League is a must to have a chance, plus a high-level financial and sporting project.

  1. Can’t compete with the Premier league when it comes to salary. We might just as well look elsewhere if the English teams are seriously in the running. Unless he chooses us, move on…

  2. Bayern fans are laughing at us. This is the exact kind of player I would expect Allegri to “push” for. Where does he want to play a CM with no real quality? Play him up front when RLC can’t play? We should be thinking of Jashari, Ricci, Alphadjo, Comuzzo and Rabiot for our midfielders next season. Not someone Bayern are desperate to offload.

    1. If Max can wriggle RLC into this lineup, he’ll have no problem making Goretzka work.

The issue here is that The German is on course for a possible tripletta at Bayern. And after he’d want to come to Milan at a pay cut to “compete” for Top4? LOL!!!

EPL it is, if he’s smart.

    2. Comuzzo isn’t a midfielder though as he is a cb.

I think we should try to go for Goretzka but ACM1899 probably is correct that he is bound to end up elsewhere but I nevertheless would test the waters.

        1. Ah ok, well as he is still only 17 I think he will be loaned out for another season and then we will maybe instead keep Zeroli and see how that pans out but that is just my view of things but who knows.
