Orsic on fire and a big travelling support: Milan cannot underestimate Dinamo Zagreb

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan must not take Dinamo Zagreb lightly on Wednesday night as the Croatian side could hardly arrive feeling more confident.

Milan do not have much time to enjoy their win over Sampdoria as they are back in action on Wednesday as Dinamo Zagreb arrive at San Siro for a game that is huge in the scheme of qualification for the knockout stages.

Zagreb are currently first in Group E thanks to a 1-0 victory against Chelsea in the first round of action, which led to the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, and that should be warning enough that they are capable of causing issues.

The Croatian champions followed that up with a dramatic win in the HNL (Croatian top flight), beating Gorica thanks to Mislav Orsic’s goal in the 92nd minute. That padded their lead at the top of the table to ten points.

Speaking of Orsic, he is their most dangerous played and has already scored 10 goals in the 16 games played by Dinamo Zagreb so far this season, helping them take up a dominant position in the league table.

Yesterday’s win against Gorica is the eighth victory in nine games for Ante Čačić‘s side, who have therefore taken 25 points out of 27 available and are well ahead second in the standings, allowing them to rotate heavily in the league and stay fresh.

Not only that, but they will be backed by over 4,000 away fans that will make the trip to Italy and to the San Siro, so it will certainly not be a walk in the park.

  1. I hope you’re right SheerWill; but I fear that this will be a very tough match for us. Orsic and Petkovic are both very high quality finishers and they have quality all around the pitch.

Also — it’s Dinamo (not Dynamo).

    1. 😂 😂 😂 Yeah Dinamo and I’m not saying we’ll win on the premise that we’ll be at our best. I’m saying we’ll win because we’re playing at the San Siro. Just imagine the thousands of fans spurring the team on. I feel like the only team in our group that can escape San Siro with a point is Chelsea and right now they don’t seem to be at their best especially with a new coach at the helm. Would be a fun game I reckon.

  2. This will be a very difficult game, they played good against Chelsea , yeah I know Chelsea weren’t great but they have a good team. Also their fans are absolutely crazy

  3. I feel it will be a difficult game ,but I believe we will win .This AC Milan has a great group of players and great management team ,the next two games very important ..
