Kyle Walker is expected to land in Italy today in order to begin the final steps of sealing his move to AC Milan from Manchester City.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) confirm, Milan are getting ready to welcome Walker as their first January signing, while it will be a first adventure away from England for the defender at the age of 34.

The deal was concluded yesterday when Manchester City accepted the formula of a loan with an option to buy set at €5m. Walker will sign a contract until 2027 and will earn around €2.5m net until June, before increasing his salary to €4.5m if it becomes a permanent deal.

The mistakes made by the management over the summer with regards to the right-back role needed acting upon, and that’s why the directors have moved swiftly to seize an opportunity and to try fix a hole,

Walker has played for Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Tottenham and Manchester City in his career, winning 17 trophies with the latter, including a Champions League and six Premier Leagues among many other honours.

For years he has been one of the best in his role, and Milan also noted Walker’s desire to test himself abroad. He will add experience to the dressing room but above all a winning mentality, a characteristic that in recent weeks Sergio Conceicao has said is missing among his players.

  1. smart decision to sign him. Not so smart to play Emerson if he was on the verge of leaving. Now that his injured we’re stuck with unwanted player. Hope Walkers rediscovers his old form now that he is away from the English tabloids. He adds a lot of quality and experience to our team.

  2. His character and off field antics are a big question mark.

    – Cheated his wife of 12 years with who he has 3 kids.

    – Made his mistress pregnant and was dragged on court because of it. Won the case.

    – Got back together with his wife and had 4th kid with her.

    – Got same mistress pregnant for the 2nd time.

He’ll fit right in this circus.

      1. LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

“Go ye into the world and multiply.”

Those were the instructions. We can surely say he doing alright by it.

    1. Aren’t you familiar with Giggs and John Terry ? Both great players but not so wonderful human beings. Or those episodes with Courtois and De Bruyne if I’m right.
If he manages to keep his affairs out of his relations with his soon to be teammates, then I assume we will be ok.

      1. For some reason everyone was against the signing of Greenwood but I guess Walker is kinda like a necessary evil. Humans 🙂

    2. Why does any of that matter? I don’t care if he’s an a$$hole off the field and in his private life. So long as he performs when the team plays and trains.

Truth be told, we need an a$$hole on the team. LOL!!! These guys are too young and too nice.

  3. I’ve a concern that he’s got a lot of kilometres on his clock already and at 34 he’s a potential risk, I worry this will turn out like Florenzi. Hope I’m wrong.

  4. I’m slightly okay if it’s just a loan till the end of the season, without activating the option. He can play CB too.
But I’m worried about the chain of mistakes being made for the RB role. Just get someone proven once and for all.
Now for only RB we have 4 players already, and always scramble to find a worthy deputy for Theo.
And come to think we just let Kalulu go. And we keep on playing Terra out of position and when he underperforms we’re angry ?

  5. I’ll be cynical and say the scouting team don’t know what to do for defenders and have to rely on Paolo’s targets from years ago. Sure Walker would have been ideal back then and would have raised the level of the team. Now however I dunno. I hope he can do the same but he is 2-3years older

  6. As far as bandaids go, he’s great, but I haven’t seen him play this year. He has to be smarter and more skilled than Royal and faster than Calabria. And it’s temporary. They can sign a younger player with more future in the off season to compete with him next year. And it has low financial risk. RB is by far the biggest hole in this team. Everywhere else we are solid, if a little thin at LB and LW at the moment. Chiesa would be the logical LW backup pickup.

  7. Theo pushes up on a run, Walker tucks inside as a third CB. Theo stays back, walker makes a run forward. Even at 34 I think he’s fast enough for this league. I think ….

Doesn’t matter. Let’s see how it plays out.

On a side note: why in the EFF would you field Emerson to play anything/anywhere if he’s on the market… FFS.

    1. At 34, he is faster than both combined. His signing is giving me the Ibra + Kjaer feeling from January 2020.
If it has half the impact those two had, that’s a huge win for us.

    2. “Even at 34 I think he’s fast enough for this league.”

You haven’t seen him play now have you? 😀

Also, he played in the EPL which is known for its slooooooow tempo, right?

  8. He knows how to win. He’ll come in as the most experienced player on the team. but probably won’t diligently study Italian.
