MN: ‘A player who is ready to go’ – why Milan will sign another midfielder despite current ranks

AC Milan have a pretty deep midfield currently; perhaps some may say that it is the strongest area of the squad. However, it is not complete.

The current makeup of the Milan squad is certainly interesting. Indeed, there are stars across the field, but some areas feel a little weaker, even if there is star power. Look at the front line, for example. There are stars present, but more is needed.

In defence, the ranks lack numbers, but the quality is largely there. So, that brings us to the midfield, where the numbers and quality are there. However, is it complete? Well, Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri do not believe so.

Why another midfielder?

As MilanNews writes today, there are replacements in the squad in case Adrien Rabiot gets injured, and they are Samuele Ricci and Ardon Jashari. However, neither are at Rabiot’s level, let alone Luka Modric’s.

They have a lot of development left, so there is a need to look at the mercato to add another suitable profile to the midfield, and complete it. It is not a statement of distrust, but rather, they do not want to rush their development by throwing them into the deep end too soon.

So far, the most liked idea is that of Leon Goretzka, where the Rossoneri’s interest has been confirmed this morning. It may be difficult to sign him, so there are other targets too, just in case.

  1. From serie A: one of Ederson, Vlasic or Fagioli.
If Fiorentina somehow gets relegated, there are few interesting players there that Milan should try to get. Fagioli, Dodo, Kean

    1. It’s like you read my mind or even my post, yes Fagoli, Dido and Kean, we don’t need Goretzka, unless he is a market opportunity, but Jashari, Ricci and hope fully the purchase of Fagoli should be concentrated on, if anything Everton could be done for €40m and he would instantly fit in, but always vary of Atlanta players doing well elsewhere, Koopeiners and Hojlund to mention 2 such players

      1. Hojlund is actually doing well at Napoli after a poor season in the mess called ManUtd.
Koopmeiners would be great at Milan next to Modric and Rabiot. Juventus is also a mess. They play Koopmeiners in 5 different roles, even as a center back. I’d offer Juventus a Koopmeiners- Ricci swap

    2. Would Kean play with a front 2 or three? Because we have the wingers for the 3 and no 9’s. And Kean isn’t really a 9.

Fagiolo ia very inconsistent. We already have Fofana to play hit & miss. Dodo is a good shout but he’s quite short – would he work well defensively?

I like Athekame for the wing. He’s been improving and his crosses are really good.

      1. Kean is absolutely a 9 and he can play in front 2 or front 3.
Fagioli is a different type of midfielder compared to Fofana and much more consistent than Fofana.
Athekame is good going forward but a mess defensively. He had trouble clearing the ball vs Torino and everything Torino was doing in the 2nd half came from Athekame’s side

  2. Because only Rabiot is good,Modric is old and cant play Seria A and Champion league at same time. Fofana is great but need one more.
Rici and Jashari are mistake.Adli is better then both this and we removed him. They both can be only substitute and nothing else. Why we pay for them that money? That need ask our managment

    1. They are not mistakes. They have shown there quality, just it’s hard for them to bench the top experienced guys in there positions. Adli is good, but not better than jashari. If both ricci and jashari get the same run of games as the other midfielders, they wud surprise U. Consistency is a huge part of the game. Checkout out designer’s performance now that he is playing consistently

  3. Kovacic or Bernardo Silva would do very well in this Milan team. Both seem to be coming to the end of their time at City. Bernardo is playing regularly though, so may not be as available as Kovacic.
