The calculations have begun regarding how AC Milan could realistically afford a move for Marcus Rashford, and the operation could be less than €10m.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rashford is the number one target for Milan as they look to strengthen their attack this month. The negotiation is ‘simply a question of money’, and they have worked out how much it might cost.
Rashford has a salary of €13m net which, for half a season, is around €6-7m, which can vary with bonuses. Without the Growth Decree, Milan cannot pay that sum, which would make Rashford by far the highest paid player in the squad.
Help is needed from the player and from United. Rashford could give up part of his salary to relaunch himself in Italy, while the Red Devils can pay a portion of his salary to get rid of a player who is no longer in Ruben Amorim’s plans. It’s about finding a general agreement.
Milan could reasonably end up paying between €3-5m. In the first hypothesis, achievable with a lot of diplomatic work and help from Rashford, Milan would spend €5.5m gross. For a higher salary (€4-5m) the sum would rise to €7-9m gross.
It is true that the Supercoppa triumph has just brought Milan €9.5m – potentially €11m in the case of a friendly against the club that won the Arab Super Cup – but we are above the spending limits of the club in the RedBird Capital era.
This is where the alternative comes into play as Francisco Trincao observes the situation from afar. For Milan he is a plan B, less convincing but has some advantages. Firstly: a contract expiring in 2026. Secondly: he is 25 years old, so young. Thirdly: his agent is Jorge Mende, the same as Sergio Conceiçao.
Last but not least, there are the interesting numbers, starting with the 17 goals scored in the last year and a half for Sporting CP. Oh, it he would cost less than Rashford too.
I don’t think he’s worth it. He is way too inconsistent.
Neither are young up and coming players, but Rashford is a known quantity, we feared him most when we clashed with United in Europa League.
5 million plus 7 million for unproven winger. Are we sure wanna do this.
Unproven winger who has scored 17 goals in a PL twice, and 11 goals once, and 10 goals once? I think this is pretty good for a player who will essentially be a backup for our starting wingers or a striker, and not have an obligation to buy.
It’s funny how people want the second coming of Messi, expect him to sign for free and work for 5 euros a day.
well said bro. Unrealistic expectations. There is a reason why these players are bargain. To me, Rashford is sort of like Leao. He has the talent to be world class, He’s shown at united he has talent, has score double digits multiple seasons BUT whenever he isnt interested, like now, he flat out doesnt do sht. Given how messy United is, perhaps Rashford is like a DiMaria or Jadon Sancho. After they left, they bloosom. Similarly, did Zirzke or højlund forgot how to play? no, but at united they stink. For the right price, Rashford could be a bargain.
Well said bro, does Charles De Cats also forget how to score. No he doesn’t. At least he doesn’t have hefty wage. Maybe he will blossom on new club.
How can right winger be alternative for LW/CF player ? Even worse if their plan is to play Rash as a RW…
4-4-2. Leao LW, Rashford SS, Pulisic RW?
You didnt answer to me anything , how can trincao be alternative for rash in any case? He is natural Rw, and rash is natural Lw ,what kind of planning is that? You have to know either you need Rw or you need Lw ,or SS or CF
And there is no LW in 442 , leao cannot play LM
That thing what you are saying is more like 424 than 442
What are we AC Rehabilitation Center? Plus his favored position is left wing when we need a striker…. Or better yet a dm and a rb and worry about a striker in the summer.
Again, 5th best defense in Serie A currently. 7th worst offense in the top 8. WE NEED GOALS. DM and RB are the ones that can wait until the summer. We need a striker now. I know Rashford isn’t a no. 9, but with 17 PL goals in a season twice, and also 11 and 10 goal PL seasons, he’s clearly able to score in a high level league. By comparison, Morata has only reached 15 goals in a league season twice, and both times in La Liga, where even Chukwueze was a bomber. Morata topped out at 11 goals in Serie A and PL.
Hmm but aren’t all those goals playing as a starter on the left wing? If we need a striker we should go for a striker rather than a backup lw who can kind of play as a striker but doesn’t really like it (his own words)
5th best defense in the league is one place below CL. And this comparison between la liga and the premiership is ridiculous. Rashford’s numbers are pretty much the same as Moratta, and both are from high tier leagues.
Until the end of January we are playing a game every three days. If you have to rest Leao, who are you calling off the bench? Injured Okafor? Injured Chuk? Overworked Pulisic? Or Rashford?
In that sense it’s an easy choice, isn’t it?
Jimenez?
Trincao, option b for instance. And in this case it is someone we can actually keep. Rashford’s profile doesn’t fit us, mostly pricewise; At his price and salary we can do much much better. But a loan for a half a season isn’t a bad idea. It just doesn’t take our squad any further
Milan still has alot of fixtures left. They are still in the Champions league and playing for a spot in the top 4 or 5 in Serie A. Milan has an abundance of English speakers now. Maybe it will be a good fit. But who moves out (Chuck or Okafor or RLC)? Jiminez looks promising and will need more playing time to come into his own.
It is gamble for red bird. But they must do something. mone won in supercoppa mist be invested in stronger player to do the pressure and catch 4th position.
To be honest, I’ve never been a Rashford fan. Reading reports he wants assurance from ACM that he is going to play. This from a player who has had a bad work ethic/attitude with two managers which is why he hasn’t played for utd. This guy needs to be told playing time is earned. You are not coming in as a superstar.
The loan could be a fiver but it still doesn’t alter the fact that he’s a liability and not worth the shirt of ACM.
Give Camarda more minutes.
