After Arne Slot was sacked by Liverpool on Saturday, he has instantly entered the running for the AC Milan job.
As Corriere dello Sport report this morning, a crucial week begins tomorrow when it comes to making decisions regarding the course for Milan’s future. One thing is known: Milan will meet Oliver Glasner and Ralf Rangnick, currently the favourites for the head coach and technical director roles.

Glasner has just won a Conference League title with Crystal Palace , having even secured three trophies in the last year, and represents a strong option should Rangnick agree to take over and lead the project.
A meeting between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Massimo Calvelli is scheduled for Tuesday with Glasner to discuss the plans and understand the coach’s intentions. The financial issues regarding his salary and contract terms will also be addressed.
Al-Ahli’s Matthias Jaissle also remains among the candidates, but his €10m net salary could be an obstacle as the Saudi club currently have no desire to part ways with the 38-year-old German. The path leading to Maurizio Pochettino is also uphill.
Slot surprise
In the next few hours, Rangnick and the Austrian federation are also expected to meet to discuss the interest from Milan. The Austria head coach will soon leave for the World Cup, where they will play their last match of the group on June 28th, so he would be absent for at least a month.
Ibrahimovic himself is ready to land in the USA to work as a television pundit, so a further decision-making vacuum would be created. This is why there is a race against time to get a management structure in place.
Yesterday, Liverpool sacked slot and he was immediately linked with the Milan job. French sources are talking about contact between Ibrahimovic and the former Feyenoord coach – with whom he also won a league title – to take the spot left vacant by Massimiliano Allegri.
Slot finished in fifth place last year just like the Rossoneri. It was a disappointing season for the Reds, marked by numerous internal problems, such as arguments with Salah and misunderstandings with the best members of the squad.
Moreover, the Reds had invested a record sum in the transfer window last summer, but without ever putting up a good title defence and reaching the Champions League quarter-finals. So, that is why Slot is looking for a new job, and could prefer going abroad.
However, his salary will have to be taken into account: Slot earned €8m net per season plus bonuses on Merseyside. Above money, he would like to understand the project of the new Milan led by Ibrahimovic and Cardinale before throwing himself into a new adventure.

So Liverpool spent 480M€ on new players last summer to now bring in a manager that plays completely different football and some of those players won’t really fit? They are ran amazingly lol, get that guy Edwards to Milan lol. They obviously have a clear plan where the club is going.
Anyhow, I’d like to see Slot at Milan, Liverpool didn’t sign him for nothing, he is a good manager but they overdid the transfer window and tried to change to much in a single season, backfired.
*too (much)
Yeah, I don’t proof read what I write, happens.
Come on, man, you know that’s not true at all 🙂 I’ve seen you correct yourself here many times, there’s no shame in that.
If I correct myself do you think I don’t know how it is supposed to be written and I just made a typo? Isn’t that obvious? But if you’re bored, tere is another comment I wrote about that same time. It has a “they” instead of “the”. Have fun.
And another one here as well. I got a new mechanical keyboard and it is different size to my last one. I need a week or 2 to get used to it 😀
I just said there’s no shame in that, that means you are aware of the mistake that was made 🙂 That was actually sort of a compliment but now
I (have) just realised something else, I misread and misunderstood your reply a few hours ago – of course, if you don’t proof read, that explains it all, otherwise, you wouldn’t correct afterwards…
I’ve watched & grew watching them for yrs.Iam 54 yrs saw 90’s version of Milan.I say to people dat Milan club with those players was the best team in Serie A & in World Soccer & Football.
Ibra has to be ruthless in this business or else u get step over & booted out he’s seen inside of Milan businees world how they operate.Need a wholesale change clean house MILAN STYLE.
Acmilan should not waste time at all Arne slot is preferable than Glasner or any coach at least he have experienced
I think this is the right choice just do it and end this madness
pioli + allegri = slot
Pioli + allegri + conte + spalletti < Slot
I don’t trust slot and his manage to games. Also he is not controlling well the dressing room plus he is not with an expereince in seria a. Glasner, slot, pocottinio non with any insurance.
None of these names have the pedigree to build a great Milan. Ancelotti will be available after the WC. Or call Klopp. Deschamps or Xavi would be ok.
Honestly, I don’t think Arne Slot is a bad choice. He’s a good coach, but his arrogance is a problem.
Slot had a fantastic squad at his disposal, he won’t have that at Milan. I’m not sure he can take a group of ‘good’ players and turn them into a championship team.
