Yacine Adli quickly settled into Milanello as he spent the full preseason with his new club AC Milan, but Stefano Pioli continues to not pick him.
As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report, the presence of several Frenchmen in the team certainly had a positive influence in helping Adli adapt, with the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Hernandez, Pierre Kalulu and Mike Maignan all there plus the French-speaking Alexis Saelemaekers, Charles De Ketelaere, Divock Origi and Ismael Bennacer.
Yesterday Adli commented on the group photo on social media with the caption ‘family’, indicating that he feels very much at home after he left Bordeaux following his loan spell there.
From a tactical point of view, however, Pioli is still expecting answers, which is why the Frenchman’s playing time is still low. The resumption after the break for the national teams could be an opportunity to see the real Adli at work.

So you’re going to change a winning formation that brought us scudetto because of a single player? Pioli is an intelligent coach and he certainly knows Adli will get his chance especially with the world cup coming, am sure that’s the major reasons he hasn’t given many players enough chance yet while they can use the opportunity to improve their ability and understand the team way of play.
there is nothing like a winning formation, any formation becomes a winning formula depending on the characteristics of the players available. So, because we play 4231 & won the scudetto, which we even strugggled to, till the last match of the season, means other formations can’t be tried when the situation calls for it? so I guess all the clubs that are winning cups play 4231? we are struggling with fatigue & injuries at the moment, most of our depth players are suited for a 3-man midfield (bakayoko, vranckx,krunic, Salae, Diaz, Tonali, Adli etc). even this season, the coach had changed formations during the matches & it worked, during the inter match, 3511 was deployed when kjaer came in & it solidified the team at that point, against sampdoria, after the red, we changed to 342/ 351, Nobody is saying a coach shldnt stick to his formationn but when the occassion calls for it, the need to be flexible with ideas should take over. Formation works well according to suited players. All great coaches only stick to winning formulas when the suited players are available
We didn’t struggle, we’re crowned champion with better points than previous season despite having many players injures. The 4231 is pioli favorite formation which have been understood by the squad and the movements is the major factor on how the team plays and not just about paper formation. 4231 is Pioli best formation regardless of the injury crisis which brought us the scudetto and am not saying 4231 is general winning formation that must be played by all teams but rather that is our own winning formation. Only on rare occasion will pioli try other alternatives depends on match situations. What am actually saying is one play doesn’t have to be the reason a new formation should be played.
