Sky: Zaniolo heading for Galatasaray for €22m but contract will have release clause

By Oliver Fisher -

Nicolo Zaniolo looks to have found a solution as he will leave Roma in the direction of Galatasaray, according to a report.

As reported by Sky (via MilanNews), Zaniolo – who was linked to Milan during the winter transfer window – is currently getting ready to depart for Istanbul as he has accepted a move to join Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray.

In the end Galatasaray managed to convince Roma to accept an amount equal to €20m plus €2m in bonuses in what is a permanent deal, and the winger will sign a four-year contract worth €3.5m net per season.

However, there is an interesting footnote ahead of the summer window. Sky have repeatedly reported that Zaniolo was holding out for a move to Milan but has now been forced to find an alternative solution, and his contract with the Turkish side has a release clause worth €35m, so another move in the not-so-distant future cannot be ruled out.

    1. Yes, they saw opportunity at 22 million. Even Turkish club pay him much more less than Romas 35m requested.
With this move Zaniolo might have finished his career on big stage.

      1. The thing is Milan could only offer a loan with option (not obligation) to buy. I believe it’s a different game if we offered loan plus obligation or direct permanent move with this amount. And finally Roma is able to move him to a non competing club.

  1. Haha another target missed. Let’s see if we’ll regret it or not. I personally am a great supporter on his move to Milan and still believe in his talent and he just needs different (read: supporting) kind of environment to showcase it.

  2. Roma would not sell zaniola to us or any other top 6 team in Serie A for less then 30 m so if you guys dont want to be seen has dumb dont coment stuff like even a Turkish team can pay more then us for a player wen the player in question is worth at max 15m and he is from one team fighting for top 4 in the same league!

    1. He is worth 30 million, his official market value. You can’t even write properly, how would you know better? 😀 And Milan could have bought him for the same money, but Roma asked for a transfer, not a loan.

    2. The thing is, Milan only offered a loan with option to buy. If he’s only worth 15 mil max (which is not, of course), with the same prejudice I can say that our wonder kid soft boy CdK’s real worth is 7.5 mil max. What a piece of business by Bruge.

  3. Milan will only be able to afford 10M players on the table. will not be able to buy players above 30M. The brain must think that when the Italian Mafia is in a downturn, Milan should step on the gas to turn into a giant. In fact Poor Owners without thinking about the Club.

  4. Simple, Milan could have gotten him for the same money but Milan is just cheap now. Loan with option to buy for your talent, and we are offering 10-15M less to buy than the other team. Who will accept Milan? :

    1. Why are you crying for a player that didn’t have any suitors outside of Galatassaray? Zaniolo the Great, clubs were just lining up for him at 22m! Now making the next step in his career to a bigger league and club! Lol.

  5. Excellent !!! if i understand correctly you’re saying that Milan might pay €35 mio this summer for a player they could have bought for €22 mio a month ago !!!

  6. Roma crazy for turning down other offers, even milans. At this point zaniolo is crazy for not accepting Bournemouth and then going there. Much rather play in the prem league

  7. Milan dodged a bullet. His value is based on potential but he’s had too many major injuries to justify that amount fully guaranteed. Milan could get a solid and less risky player for the RW for 22M. Besides how man teams in the CL were after him?
