Zaniolo discusses ‘phenomenon’ Ibrahimovic and admits Milan ‘deserved’ the Scudetto

Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo has revealed his happiness that his idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic was able to win the Scudetto with AC Milan in the 2021-22 season.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport has given a preview of a long interview that Zaniolo has provided for their magazine SportWeek and there are some interested statements from the young forward regarding Ibrahimovic, a player that he has never hidden his admiration for.

“Here, among the goals achieved this season is our match together, which they won 3-1, but which for me was still beautiful. I crowned a dream,” he said (via MilanNews).

“I didn’t have the courage to get close, I was shy. But I studied him from afar: for his approach to the game, for how he moves as a charismatic leader, Ibra is a phenomenon. And I’m happy that he won the Scudetto, he brought Milan back to the top and they deserved it. Is it his last one? If he still wants to play…”

There has been a lot of speculation suggesting that Zaniolo and Ibrahimovic could actually end up as team-mates next season given that the Italian’s contract expires in 2024 and he has still not renewed with Roma, and several sources linked the Rossoneri with a potential move for him to bolster the right wing.

The presence of someone like the Swede – who is expected to sign another one-year deal as per widespread reports – could certainly help in convincing the player if something did materialise.
