Di Marzio: Roma willing to sell forward amid Milan links – the asking price

By Oliver Fisher -

Roma seem willing to listen to offers for Nicolo Zaniolo amid recent links with AC Milan, but it is three foreign clubs who are the most interested.

It has been reported by both La Gazzetta dello Sport and La Repubblica in recent weeks that Milan held an interest in signing Zaniolo prior to the 2022-23 season and it has not gone away, especially with his contract situation.

According to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio, Zaniolo attracted interest from a number of clubs in the 2022 summer window but played the first part of the season with Roma, yet now the 23-year-old could leave before the end of the month.

After blocking a sale last summer, the Giallorossi management are concerned about the renewal of the Italian forward and are considering letting him go. Zaniolo’s agents are already at work to find offers for the last few days of the window.

The interest of Tottenham is still there as their sporting director Fabio Paratici has proposed a loan with an obligation to buy upon the occurrence of certain conditions. West Ham are another Premier League side who are keen, as are Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

For an outright sale Roma are starting from a request of around €40m, and are not willing to go below €35m. The Giallorossi are monitoring every possible offer – which have not yet arrived at the moment – while seeking potential replacements.

  1. What makes Roma believe that 3 goals over 18 months in serie A, by a forward, can get them 40 mil?
    Not worth half of that.
Came with a lot of hype from inter, scored that one goal where he looked like Kaka, and that was all she wrote. Between injuries and bad performances, his price should be at most 20 mil

    1. Injuries aside yes which were two major, he’s been Roma’s best player, last year he was single handedly carrying them in Europe. Imagine on a better team with better players around him what he could do… You know we just spent over 35m on CDK, how did that work out? Zaniolo is twice the player

      1. He scored 2 goals in serie A last season. Has 1 goal this year.
Milan plays in serie A, not in the conference league.
And even in the conference league ” he scored 5 goals, of which 3 came in one game. Vs bodo glint . Far from singlehandedly.
Also, What makes you think that at Milan he would have better players and better team around him ?
Which one of our midfielders is as good as Dybala and Pelegrini. How about the strikers. Even though Tammy has been in bad form this season, 4 goals 4 assists, he is way better than what we have.

        1. Well for one w eplay a different system that suits him a lot more. Tonali and bennacer are better than any midfielder they have. But anyway, playing with leao and giroud they would make him better and he’d make them better. Right now we have leao who does everything while the other two next to him can’t do anything. Then giroud suffers with no service. How nice would it be to have a second player that can beat players and be a threat. Other choices are no one and stay with what we have

          1. Tonali and Bennacer are only better than any midfielder WE have. Neither Tonali nor Bennacer are better than Pelegrini.
Also, how eould Leao and Giroud make him better. Leao only goes 1v1 and doesn’t pass the ball unless he has no other choice, and Giroud shouldn’t even be a starter if we wanna be a serious club.
Also, I don’t know if you actually watch Zaniolo, but just like Leao he never passes the ball unless he has no other option and he is awful in 1v1 because he has zero technique and he is one footed. If you ask him to stand on his right foot he would tip over.
You actually believe that playing with old ass Giroud and 1v1 one move Leao would make Zaniolo better than playing with Dybala, Pelegrini and Abraham.
We are all Milan fans so we are biased but if I was Zaniolo, I’ll rather play with those 3 Roma players than with Giroud and Leao.
His lack of production is because he isn’t good not because of the style his team plays or the players around him

  2. He’s had an average season yes but he’s also had tension with the team and fans. Last year he was Roma’s saviour especially in Europe. There are new reports that roma are willing to let him go now for a loan with an obligation or easy to reach obligation.

This guy can instantly come onto this team and be exactly what we need if he stays healthy. Instantly become a starter and instantly change the attack. Can play attacking mid and on the right and I think it’s a no brainer, he would flourish in this system on milan a, I’m confident in that. At 23 years old to have him and leao in attack would be dangerous. Bring him in or we will seriously regret it.

  3. If Milan want to Succeed they have sign Zaniola this Month and Sell CDK Imidiately Befiore he is Devaluated.
And Give Chack Traore and the Captain first team Line ups Aswell as D Vasques.
Sell Rebic and Diaz,Origi and Drob Calabria instead of Primavera and Sign Genk Teanager.
In the Midle the No 8 of Marocan National Team.
And Sign Real Striker with Lazatic.
Remember i Have Already Told in Here before last 6 Games. Ac milan will fail if they Do’nt Decide well to ivest well under Their Policy into Action and Give Chance the Primavera and Monitor Pioli.

  4. We don’t need more youngsters at this point tbh, I think something has to change regarding that. Having a core made up of young talent is good, I like that but we have enough of that already, this team needs more grown-up , stablished players that can also help the rest of team get through difficult moments. More 27-31yo and less promise. If they have serie A experience even better. I think of players like Luis Alberto, Deulofeu, Sabitzer…Players who are in a position where it shouldn’t be impossible for this ownership to sign them. We made a huge mistake not investing in Dybala when he was free and decided to rather pay Origi 4 million per season based on nothing. He’s injured a lot?? okay and how’s the injury situation going for what we got instead, Origi?? Playing a lot, isn’t he?? And how’s Dybala doing when he does play and how’s Origi doing when he gets to play?? Can’t even compare the two. Maybe we could try convincing Firmino if he does not extend his contract with Liverpool?? (Seems like he’s not going to). We could have signed Acerbi and everyone was whining about it cause he was too old. Well his season at Inter so far has been much better than Tomori’s or Kalulu’s at Milan, so I don’t know. But I do know if we need players who can deliver from the get go and from whom younger players can learn and grow.

    1. LOL, good point about Acerbi. He was too old and slow for Milan. Funny how he still dominated against the Milan attackers 100-0.

    2. Milan should have signed Dybala but the policy of the club is just plain stupid. We won’t pay player over a certain amount. I mean who would cost the club more in total, CDK or Dybala? Yeah. Origi was the worst idea ever, but I am happy that these “bargain” moves and patching up the team failed. The US owner can now see how things are done and how you can’t compete even with Napoli if you don’t buy players. We couldn’t get Giovanni Simeone on a loan so we have another striker? Raspadori who was evidently great at Sassuollo and more. We have Giroud, Ibrahimović and Origi and Ibrahimović is still by far the best of these 3 when not injured.
