AC Milan have been heavily linked with a move for Alessandro Buongiorno for months now, but the centre-back has hinted that he would like to try a new experience abroad.
Milan were first properly linked with the Torino captain ahead of the January window when they really needed a central defender, but they were unable to get a deal over the line. Reports have suggested that they recently met his agent and will try again to land him this summer.
However, there seems to be a lot of competition. Inter, Juventus and Napoli are keen domestically, while abroad it is Spurs, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich that have been credited with interest.
He may have a chance to audition in front of Milan this weekend with the Rossoneri hosting Torino at San Siro on Saturday, but he is fighting to get back from an injury and may not recover in time for that match.
Buongiorno has given an interview to SportMediaset and as part of it he was asked about what the future holds for him given all the links and the possible desire to take the next step.
“I had some physical problems last week, but I hope to be on the pitch against the Rossoneri. The Premier League is a league that particularly appeals to me because there are very strong teams and players with whom I can continue to work and grow,” he said (via PianetaMilan).
“But also in I feel good in Italy and for this reason we will see in the future what choices to make. I would certainly like to go to the European Championship in June and maybe win it, however more generally I dream of winning the Champions League or the World Cup, a wish that I think every child would like to realise.”
‘new experience abroad’ is a nice way to say ‘a lots more money’
Lets be honest. Everyone should aim for the EPL. More money, more fame and prestige, a much better league etc.
Much better league? Kiddo it’s the league of overpaid flops, bottlejob teams, and wasted youth development. There’s a reason half the big clubs in that league are not even good enough to make top 4 this year. They have more money, that’s all. Chelsea blew over a billion on transfers in a single year, and they can barely make top half

Inter did pretty well and in all fairness should’ve won the Champions League final. Don’t overhype England, they couldn’t even beat us with our worst line up ever at Wembley.
lol how can you pretend that the Serie A is the same level as the EPL. Chelsea yes they were in crisis for almost 2 years, but they are not anymore. In any case, even in crisis they played fun football, with a fast and attacking style. Look at how defensive, boring Juventus and Co play.
I don’t know about better league but better money certainly, outside of the big clubs the lower level is about on par with Serie A and Bundesliga. Look at Fiorentina they’ve made back to back Conference League finals and Atalanta is in the Europa League finals.
The quality of the games played there on average is way better than in the Serie A. The players tend to be fast and strong. There is more desire for attacking than defending. Hence the EPL teams are not dominating the European competitions: the way of playing they learn is hardly suitable against more defensive, boring competitors.
