Tomori’s knack and a first since 1970: All the key stats from Milan’s win against Juve

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan followed up the disappointing loss to Chelsea with a comfortable 2-0 win against Juventus on Saturday evening. Brahim Diaz and Fikayo Tomori were the goalscorers, which was almost written in the stars.

It was a strong performance from Stefano Pioli’s men, above all tactically, and they got a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the Chelsea return. That’s especially true for Tomori, who had a tough game at Stamford Bridge.

Just like Brahim Diaz, he’s becoming used to finding the back of the net against Juventus. Below are the best stats from the game, from the official website

➤ AC Milan have beaten both Juventus and Inter before Serie A’s Matchday 10 for the second time in their history, after 1970/71.

➤ Tomori has scored both of his two Serie A goals against Juventus: he is one of three English players to have scored more than one goal against Juventus in the competition. The others are Gerald Hitchens (three) and Tammy Abraham (two). Among the players to have scored 100% of their Serie A goals against Juventus, Fikayo Tomori is one of three players to have found the net more than once against the Bianconeri (two, along with Luigi Carello and Francesco Duzioni).

➤ Juventus are the only opponent against whom Díaz has scored more than one goal in Serie A (two). Brahim is also one of three Spanish players to have scored more than one goal against Juventus in the league, alongside Suarez (three) and José Callejón (three).

➤ Olivier Giroud played his 50th match with AC Milan in all competitions: he has scored the most goals (19) among the Rossoneri since his debut with the team last season.

➤ The Rossoneri’s 21 attempts is a negative record for the Bianconeri in a single game in Serie A this season.
