Capello names key strength of Milan candidate Conceicao: “A winning mentality”

By Isak Möller -

Sergio Conceicao has been heavily linked with AC Milan in the last day or so and Fabio Capello has weighed in on the Rossoneri’s interest. The legendary manager stated that there is one thing in particular that he likes.

Conceicao could leave Porto at the end of this season, despite just signing a contract renewal, and Milan are currently in talks with his agent Jorge Mendes. Talks are proceeding well and the next 48 hours are expected to be decisive.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Capello shared his thoughts on Conceicao and hinted that there is one thing he likes in particular. Of course, the journalist made sure that the manager elaborated on that.

“He’s a coach capable of working with both important players and prospective players: he brings out the best in everyone. He is used to building and doing it with a winning mentality. He made this with the philosophy of Porto, where historically value is created by winning.”

It remains to be seen if Milan will reach an agreement with the manager, but it’s clear that the latter also needs to define the future with Porto. Andre Villas-Boas, the new president, might present a compelling case for the manager to stay (even if that seems unlikely for now).

      1. Expect we’ve have a great lw and two very promising right wings so it doesn’t make sense to play like that. On the other hand we are short on strikers

    1. I’m pretty sure as a player Gattuso, Seedorf, and Pippo won more trophies than Pioli. But remember what trophies they got when they coached Milan? Lol.

The same as Sheva. As a player, he won more trophies than Pioli. But he doesn’t achieve anything when he coached Genoa and got sacked pretty quick. Heck, his Genoa lost against Pioli too.

How many trophies a player won is not a guarantee that he will get the same success as a manager.
