Bild: Bayern Munich reconsider stance on German international; AC Milan and Arsenal linked

By Oliver Fisher -

Bayern Munich have reportedly informed defender Jerome Boateng that he cannot leave this month amid links with a move to AC Milan.

Sky in Germany reported on Sunday night that the Rossoneri are interested in the idea of signing Boateng as they look for defensive reinforcements following the departure of Mattia Caldara.

The 31-year-old has not been a constant starter at Bayern this season, and Sky in the UK claimed the Bundesliga champions would be willing to let him for €15m in January, with Arsenal also interested.

Meanwhile the Daily Mirror added that Milan have the edge over the Gunners as the London club can only take the 31-year-old on loan due to limited funds.

However, German outlet Bild are reporting that Bayern have chosen to keep the experienced defender due to concerns over their defensive depth.

Despite the fact manager Hansi Flick has often chose David Alaba, Benjamin Pavard or even Javi Martinez at centre-back over Boateng, the fact that the Bavarians are competing in three competitions – plus Lucas Hernandez’s injury – has forced them to reconsider their stance.
