CaughtOffside: Milan ponder offer after identifying new left-back target

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are set to reinforce quite a few positions in the summer, including left-back, and it seems a new target has been identified. According to a report, the Rossoneri have set their sights on the youngster Javi Lopez.

Lopez currently plays for Alaves in LaLiga and has bagged three assists in 18 league appearances this season. As reported by CaughtOffside in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio are keeping a close eye on Lopez.

The two directors have been following the 21-year-old for several months, per the report, and are now considering whether to prepare an offer for the summer or not. It’s a position that Milan tried to reinforce already last summer, but there wasn’t enough time after Fode Ballo Toure’s late exit.

Milan have also been linked with another Spanish left-back, namely Juan Miranda, but his contract will expire in the summer and the competition is set to be fierce. The Rossoneri could thus turn to Lopez instead, who will have one year left on his contract. There could perhaps be a discount involved, in other words.

A lot can happen between now and the summer, of course, but Milan are already making plans for what should be an eventful summer mercato.

  1. They already had discussions with Miranda with a contract expiring this summer. Why the change in course where a fee will be required. Some things just completely boggle the mind.
