CorSport: Giroud loses battle against Roma defenders and adds nothing

By Isak Möller -

It was a tough evening for Olivier Giroud in AC Milan’s 1-1 draw against Roma last night. The Frenchman found no space and almost always lost the duels against the Giallorossi defenders, as highlighted in the papers.

Giroud managed to recover from his minor injury ahead of the game but it wasn’t a happy return for him. He only had one shot the entire game and it was blocked, coming from the free-kick he tried to curl over the wall.

As highlighted by today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), giving him just 5.5/10, he clearly lost the battle against the Roma defenders and above all Bryan Cristante. He found no space and thus failed to help his teammates in attack.

It remains to be seen if he will start in the mid-week clash against Cremonese. It seems unlikely given that Milan then have Lazio at the weekend. By the looks of it, we will see Divock Origi from the first minute.

  1. Rebic should start as a striker because Milan wins whenever he plays. He opens up the attack allowing Leao, Brahim, and others to join in and score too.. Origi is simply useless. It is best to sell Origi and make $15m off his sale.
