GdS: ‘Still stalemate’ – Camarda’s future remains uncertain but not due to money

By Oliver Fisher -

Francesco Camarda continues to be the subject of speculation given that he has turned 16 and thus is able to sign his first professional deal, but he has not yet done so.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write, after his debut in Serie A and the applause at San Siro, he started scoring again with the Primavera and with the Italy U17 team, as we explored in a feature last night.

In addition to his physique, he has a mature head on his shoulders too. Last March 10th he celebrated his 16th birthday and as a gift he could have received his first professional contract with Milan. Instead, everything has been postponed.

There will be time to talk about it, perhaps in July, when the season will be closed and priorities will shift from the field to the mercato.

What is certain is that, since all discussions have been postponed, no requests have been made by the agents (Riso-Mecacci) or the family, neither to Milan nor to one of the many European clubs that are carefully observing.

Therefore the rumours of huge salary requests and demands for massive commissions are absolutely unrealistic, and rejected with annoyance by the entourage. The regulations prevent agents and family members from receiving sums of money deriving from the signing of a player’s contract until he turns 18.

For Camarda, who grew up with the Rossoneri youth sector, his future will never be a question of money, but rather of growth prospects. Thus, everything is postponed for a few weeks, when all the parties will sit at the table.

  1. @sempremilan

    Thanks for clarifying the situation.

However it is just 24 hours ago you published an article “Camarda’s shock requests to renew”

This outlined the demand for a 10m fee for his agent.
Obviously this sparked outrage amongst fans.
It is clear by what is written today that was never possible due to the rules forbidding agents/families demanding fee’s.

The guy is only just 16yo!
Please use some journalistic integrity and responsibility when reporting on children!!

He is a great talent and this kind of click bait is very unhelpful to his young career

    1. Well said, if the fans turn them why would he stay. The kid could literally have 1 on 1 from Zlatan to help him grow.

The future is exciting, If we can get him, Zeroli and some others into the first team next season albeit sparingly with Buongiorno and a top striker we are looking good.

      1. Yeah there is massive talent in the academy now. Given how they are doing in Europe, you would say it’s a golden generation, perhaps not seen since Maldini’s youth

    2. @SJF it’s not just reporting on children but in general especially when the story itself is obviously misleading or doesn’t pass a background check they’ll run it anywy. And they have the capacity to be above the nonsense but there’s money to be made by regurgitating the media rounds so.. hands are tied I suppose??.🤷‍♂️

Notice it didn’t say they couldn’t get money from the signing, just when they get it. There can be sell on clauses in favour of the agent (I recall reading a story recently about that happening, can’t recall who though) or escape clause when he reaches 18 or a ‘bonus’ upon turning 18. I dunno 🤷‍♂️but point is a little basic investigative questions are lacking.

        1. I decline all that ish. I just hope they are truthful when I reject them all 😂🤷‍♂️🤔
It’s like 300 vendors just waiting for that info

  2. I don’t see why he can’t be one of our striking options for next season. Look how Pep slowly integrated Foden. The likes of Rooney, Owen, Totti and more show that a young kid can make a difference.

    1. Does Pioli believe in young kids? Simic looked all promising in pre-season and we were hoping to see him more, but alas we went to sign 2 more CB and even looking to sign 2 more. Where is the hope for the young lads or rather where is the trust from Pioli?

    2. At 16? You just cited players who were 16 twenty or twenty five years ago. Camarda should play one year in at least Serie B to gauge his ability against professionals before fully joining the first team. Also, the sooner we play him the sooner he will leave, because if he’s that good he won’t be signing a second contract with us. It will be Donnarumma 2.0 guaranteed. He will be gone by age 18 or 19.

      1. Foden debuted for City at 17, Harvey Elliot played
For wolves at 16. The time period is irrelevant. It’s about managing the player and his limits. Camarda is physically strong. The Serie B loan route doesn’t work for me. So many players with promises lost. Give him coppa minutes, or 10 at the end of a league match we are in control of. Nothing will benefit him like playing with the first team. This kid could be a once in a generation talent. The prem that Rooney and Owen played in is no different to the rigours of todays football.

I’m saying we give him minutes, not that we use him as a starter or regular rotation. Have him around the first team squad. Maldini was up against Maradona and Platini at 16

        1. What City did with Foden was bring him up around the culture of the club, not ship him out on loan. He learned from the likes of Kompany, David Silva, KDB and he was used the right way. This is the part we should follow with Camarda in my view. He wants assurances of his career seemingly, we should offer him this route

        2. On reconsideration, you may be right. It’s still very risky for both parties to appear at 16. It puts Camarda into a very very rare category. Maldini was one of the best defenders ever. Rooney was one of the best strikers of his generation. I may be in denial that we actually have such a talent in our youth system.

          1. He certainly shouldn’t be playing every game and being relied upon to win games and score goals. Just him being around Zlatan on a weekly/daily basis, being in the club areas showing the history. He may be that good…I mean his stats up until this point are insane.. the Foden path is the one for me

  3. Another PR piece… a similar piece was yesterday on TMW with additional embellishments about lack of clarity regarding who should negotiate the contract (Ibra, FurlanIi, etc)

Anyways we’ll find out very soon.
His best growth prospects are probably with a team like Atalanta who already has an U23.
What’s that? They probably don’t offer a lot of money …oh, well.

  4. If Milan can’t do better than 240 odd minutes in 24 months out of the academy and then bullshit loans for the next 24 months for its own flesh and blood what is there for Camarda? Why does he believe Milan will help him become world class or quicker than a club that knows what it’s doing? Because Milan was a great club 15 years ago?

U23 side in the serie C? That covers 18th and 19th years, but what then? U23 does not bridge the gap to seniors match play. It accelerates development compared to Primavera.

I suppose Zlatan will ordane it?

The clown show rolls on. It gets what it deserves.

  5. Well… I’d rather give a 16-year-old Camarda a chance to show what he’s got than buying an Origi-caliber flop for millions. What’s the worst that could happen? 😛

      1. He has a point though up until maybe the last two sentences or so when it gets personal but overall it’s the idea of game time and development which we haven’t done so well with our academy players
