GdS: The four players that Milan will base their summer revolution on

By Isak Möller -

For next season, we can expect to see an even younger AC Milan side. Elliott’s strategy for the future is clear and there is already a structure to build on, more specifically four players that can lead the Rossoneri.

As reported by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), these players are Alessio Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez, Ismael Bennacer, Rafael Leao. In other words, they will form the backbone of the club.

Of course, the average age of the squad will be even lower than now, as the summer overhaul will entail bringing in some new youngsters. All that remains is to fix a few issues, such as the future of Alessio Romagnoli.

The captain’s contract will expire in 2022 and the Rossoneri are preparing a contract renewal. As for Hernandez, there is no doubt on the permanence as his contract will expire in 2024. Then again, he’s attracting the interest of some big clubs.

In midfield, Bennacer will be the true leader. The Algerian started quietly in the red and black shirt but then became a protagonist in the team. Certainly, he has the right character to help lead this side forward.

Speaking of character, this is something that Leao will have to work on. The Rossoneri have high hopes on the Portuguese striker and hope that he can become a point of reference for the team.
