GdS: Crucial week ahead for Milan after derby loss – Pioli refuses to apologise

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan headed into the derby with nine out of nine possible points, having started the season very well. However, the clash against Inter ended in misery and has now overshadowed the positive start.

After a very frustrating game, almost from start to finish, Inter prevailed 5-1 and thus won their fifth consecutive derby. A clear misstep from Milan who tried to play with a high line (again) and got caught out on the counters.

As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (see featured image), the 90 minutes against Inter have completely cancelled out the positive start to the season, as well as the project in general. Next week, therefore, is sensationally important for a new and deciding evaluation.

Newcastle and Verona at home will tell what the relationship is between the impressive side we saw before the international break and the scared, as well as flawed, team we saw against Inter.

Pioli’s season depends on it, frankly, and he didn’t help his cause either by refusing to apologise to the fans afterwards. The manager stated that he was sorry for the fans, but that they shouldn’t apologise because they didn’t lose ‘on purpose’.

  1. I do not agree with whats been asumed with the loss yesterday. It clearly was a team vs individuals yesterday. Inter knew how to act both with the ball and without it. Insaghi has built the team for more than 2 years. We are a newly constructedc in offence but our defence is pathetic. Pioli never learns. Inter did nothing new from th CL semi finals where they let us have the ball and waited to exploit our defence in the counter and Pioli just fell for it. We looked lost because we do not have style of play in the build up because and we have not have that with Pioli for 4 years. however the upcoming games we need to simple get wins to move on from yesterday. A win against Newcastle is all that matters now

    1. It was only in time of pioli that inter have won Milan consecutively like this, I remember I said inter will continue to beat Milan as far as pioli is still there, give inzahgi Milan squard and give pioli inter squard pioli will still lose he’s not a good coach.
