In the last few months, AC Milan have been working on the renewal of Rafael Leao but little progress has ultimately been made. The winger’s agent Jorge Mendes has presented a hefty demand, a report claims.
Leao was the best player on the pitch as Milan managed to beat Inter in the Derby Della Madonnina last night. Not only did he score a brace, but also assisted what was a very important goal by Olivier Giroud in the second half.
Inevitably, the renewal talks have ended up in the spotlight again and Milan find themselves in a tricky situation. According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Mendes has made it clear that he wants a salary of €7m per year for his client.
As we know, Milan have previously been very strict with their wage policy and it remains to be seen if this will stick under the ownership of Gerry Cardinale. To lose Leao would be a huge loss for the Rossoneri, who must make a decision on the renewal (current deal will expire in 2024).

Milan is starting to be like the good old Milan.
We have to change wage policy to compete with the European big teams.
It’s a different thing to give 5M € to Çalhanoğlu and different to give 7M€ to Leão.
Add at least additional 1 year more to the existing contract and then use the time to evaluate all options on the table.

We are not profitable yet. We still got hit by crooked uefa with its fair play rules. Besides cdk we haven’t splashed a lot of cash out there. Yes give leao 7 mil, but make up for it else where. Hopefully, cardinale moves fast with that new stadium and invests more in youth sector.
Just learn and see how the premier league teams get so much fund.

I said it again and again. Leao can leave for free, as long as we get the second stars first before Inter. But I believe, if we get second star, we will be able to breach salary cap through sponsor and tournament prize money.
If Leao get the Serie-A MVP once again this season, yes undoubtly he deserves it. Or if he can compete the Top-Scorers this season.
Or give him challenge to be better in aerial duels since he is 1,88 meters & keep his quality finishing.
Leao is so brilliant, he could even replace CR7 in Portugal. Its up to him to improve.
When Leao sign the new contract, please give him no. 7. Let him bear that burden.

Players salaries. Look at players over 7M – Ben Chilwell 9.8M; Anthony Martial 13M. So pls don’t say Leao isn’t worth 7M not base it on the consistency argument as neither Martial nor Chilwell nor Rashford, Lingard, Rabiot, etc….are “consistent” .
