90min: Milan confident of getting €48m double swoop from Lille over the line

By Isak Möller -

With just seven games remaining of the current campaign, AC Milan are planning for the next one as some reinforcement are expected this summer. A duo worth €38m could arrive from Lille, a report claims.

The Rossoneri are currently one point clear at the top of the standings and it seems the Scudetto race will come down to the wire. In the meantime, Paolo Maldini and Rocky Massara are working on strengthening the team for next season.

Two names that have been heavily linked with Milan lately are Sven Botman and Renato Sanches. Earlier today, it was reported by English media that an agreement has been reached between Milan and Lille for the Dutch defender.

As 90min adds, in fact, Maldini and Massara believe that they have secured the services of Botman for next season. Positive talks were held last week and Maldini was able to convince the 22-year-old.

In addition to Botman, Milan are confident that they can secure Sanches as well. The current obstacle, per the report, is the contract but there is optimism that an agreement can be reached. The total cost of the double swoop would be around €48m: €30m for Botman and €18m for Sanches.

  1. I would rather just sign sanches and save the 30 million to pursue Jonathan david, the management are avoiding the biggest fee for 2 years now and that’s a young capable striker, really should of gone for tammy looking at it now.

  2. I hope this isn’t true. What a waste of money. Moreso in on Botman than Sanches. The arrival of Botman will severely hinder the growth of Kalulu. Once things get going again he’ll be behind Tomori, Kjaer and expectedly behind Botman because you can’t bench 30 million, although I don’t think Botman is better than Kalulu. Kalulu is massively underrated talent. It’s him and Tomori who have been our best pairing the entire season during the current shift.

  3. I echo these sentiments about getting Sanches but not Botman.

So you can buy Botman or Berardi (or Noa Lang), who do you think would have helped more against these small teams we fail to break down? Exactly.

  4. I believe they can get botman ,since Fabrizio Romano already announce it. But for Renato it will be tough because Renato asking salary 5,5m euro/years. Even without Renato that double pivot have tonali, bennacer, pobega, adili and Pioli golden boy king krunic. Botman Will make Pioli have 4 CB starter quality with Tomori, kalulu and Kjaer ( fourth choice) and young Italian Mattia viti as fifth choice CB . Our weakest pos are RW ,we should be focused our budget on RW and if still have some money left maybe we can buy Charles ketelare for AMF

    1. I trust in Maldini for the most part but they did not replace Calhanoglu and we got stuck with only one true CAM (Maldini’s kid is not ready). We’re surgery because of that position which is crucial in in Pioli’s setup. I don’t know if the same will happen next year ie get a proper RW or CAM

  5. what we need now is a consistent AM like Keterlare or Noa Lang who can also drift into other positions to still deliver when the AM space is choked up, an effective RW like Berrardi and a hungry CF like Scammaca…

CB role can wait till winter so can the DM/CM role too…

What we are lacking is cutting edge finishing not defending,

Leao is too overstretched and these things affect productivity and effectiveness due to fatigue…

Maldini and Massara know what they are doing though, believe in them…
