The company behind the potential European Super League relaunch have put forward their proposition for how the competition would be formatted.
It was back in 2021 that 12 of Europe’s top clubs had launched the creation of a new ‘Super League’ which would be governed by the teams and would replace their participation in the Champions League, but it was met by the threat of severe sanctions from UEFA.
The idea of a relaunch has been constantly mentioned, and today UEFA’s rules demanding prior approval for Super League have been deemed unlawful by the European Court of Justice. It is a big blow for UEFA and FIFA, and opens the possibility of it sparking back up.

Sounds fun but very many matches extra per year. At most there is now 13 games for the team that gets to the CL final.
After those 14 games there is also the play-off with 2-5 games.
I like the idea of all the best teams playing eathother more often though. Right now the CL group stage is usually not that exciting. Except for our group this year :p

According to some sources, UEFA plans to stay with the original UCL format.
UEFA is going to be outdated by the looks of it. I say that not based on the video but by the amount of time it seems the people behind the supper league are giving it. It looks competitive, but the whole ambience needs to be there like the championship league and most importantly, financially lucrative for the clubs in the three categories. That last part is important. The teams right now in Europe cannot depend on TV deals to create entertaining football consistently. So whatever this competition does it needs to be fun which means competitive and financially lucrative for everyone.
Any club thinking about dumping UEFA and going along with the Super League needs to sit down, and think things through, why would I leave an institution that has been in existence for close to 70 years, organising and funding completions for that long, without any problem, or financial decline, and follow an unknown media company that has never had any history in football, or even organising sporting competitions, matches will be broadcast through streaming services, wow….
This clearly will not work, what the clubs need to do is support UEFA and FIFA better, so that European competitions are improved,
and the most annoying thing is they intend to show the matches during week days when the UEFA competitions are been played, clubs need to wake up, UEFA needs to fight and kill this abomination in its infancy.
I seriously doubt A22 even have the money to begin and pay the clubs their due, they are not even a reputable or even known company, these clubs already make a lot of money, and it will be a betrayal of the fans if the clubs go ahead with it, and it will be the death of the domestic leagues, of what prestige will the trophy of the Super League possess, no history or tradition, meanwhile the UCL, UEL and the UCL are all immersed in history, won by greats and Legends….no to the Super league
It’s the death of European football outside of the elite clubs, maybe outside of clubs in the top two divisions in the larger leagues. All the greedy capital that has already skewed football will be further concentrated on this “Super” league and there will be even less for the national leagues, i.e., lower league clubs. Oh well. Welcome NFL-style Football League Europe.
All this decision means is that A22 doesn’t need permission from Uefa and FIFA to start a new league. It has nothing to do with whether it’s the right thing to do, and it isn’t the right thing to do.

It would have been better if they’d suggested combining Italy France and Spain where Serie A, Ligue 1, La Liga become ‘regional’ second tiers.
Actually no, that would have been terrible too. Maybe we stop tinkering and play football.
Still keeps the top 16 teams untouchable. Right now if we finish 5th in the league we don’t play champions league. True merit.
This Super league is rubbish and doesn’t allow for a team outside of the big 10 to win. Hate it
