Sportitalia: Milan to meet Club Brugge CEO in Switzerland to conclude De Ketelaere deal

By Oliver Fisher -

Today could be a crucial day in AC Milan’s mission to sign Charles De Ketelaere as a meeting will take place in Switzerland, a report claims.

According to reports from SportItalia, this afternoon Milan will have a meeting in Lugano with the CEO of Club Brugge to close the De Ketelaere deal. Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will in fact have a summit with the management of the Belgian champions to try and fully define the operation.

It seems therefore that there are decisive hours coming up for the possible closure of the deal to see the 21-year-old attacking midfielder finally join the Rossoneri after weeks of negotiations and haggling.

The man that Maldini and Massara will meet is Vincent Mannaert, who joined Club Brugge as CEO in 2011 having held the same role at SV Zulte Waregem from 2007 up to then. He is widely praised for the work he has done with the Belgian side, and is a notoriously tough negotiator.

    1. Life goes on even withou CDK, this guy seems like another Lotito. Young players who are great are going to be every year. At least now we have a proper scouting and we’re putting more effort in finding young talented players.

It sucks a bit since he appeared to be a good player, but with Adli, Diaz and Krunic I think we can manage in that position. If we get a central defender and the Aston Villa fella (Chukwuemeka) with CDK-s money, and he turns out to be good it might end up being a better deal than CDK… dunno, I’m sure 3M has already calculated it better than me.

      1. Diaz? Krunic? These are not UCL players and the boy from Villa has barely played, Milan aren’t going to spend millions on a youth team player whose out of contract in a year!

  1. “Club Brugge CEO Mannaert may be accompanied by club president Bart Verhaeghe in the meeting with Milan for De Ketelaere” – HLN.BE

if so it would seem like its just a matter of time before this deal actually will be done as it would indicate willingness from the belgian side to finally to let him go.

Never lost my hope but ill first fully believe it when i actually sees it done and signed.

    1. I dont mind AC Milan go plan B with ziyech as RW,ndicka as CB ,aston villa wonderkid as DMF thats if we failed get CDK . I admit CDK are hot prospect now in belgium but brugge in favour due to 3 years left CDK contract and they dont need to sell right now. Maybe next season we can buy CDK if he still in brugge and refuse extend his contract

      1. Ill welcome ziyech as i will with every player joining us and he will propably do fine but im not especially fond of the idea of brinhing him in unless its a llow paid oan with option. Prefer berradi but the other players you mentioned in combination with ziyecg would be of greater interest for me personally than getting the morrocan. Lets see how it pans out.

    1. To my knowledge then dortmund has actually shown interest in cdk previous seasons but brugge was not interested in selling him to anyone so it kinda makes your argumentation rather redundant.
Besiades of that Chukwuemeka is primarily a cm whereas cdk is a cam, ss and right wing with a great experience at the age of 21 backing loads of goals and assists whereas carney Chukwuemeka is 18 and has played 13 pl matches with an outcome of 1 assist, hardly comparable currently but who knows in a matter of years.

        1. True, it’s different position but I mean AcM can buying Ziyech,Berardi or another player rather waiting this drama, Biggest problem now is CM/DMF to replacement Kessie because Milan only have one target is Renato Sanches

          1. Well cdk would also be my first choice aquisition so il’l gladly wait the time if we actually can manage to get the deal done. If it was entirely up to me and there is/were enough cash to spend then i would get both cdk and berradi as we would have a more than deadly attack with those two additions for the cam and right wing roles.
I wouldnt mind us getting sanches or for that matter Chukwuemeka but i do believe we have a fairly strong midfield already with tonali, bennacer, pobega, krunic and adli can play there too so it depends on the deals we can get after the cdk deal is done.
In the end i would be more than happy to see us skip a cm addition and only buying cdk and berradi but Chukwuemeka does seem like an interesting and affordable player so im certainly not opposed bringing him in either.
