CM: Adli continues to shine at Bordeaux – background on discounted deal including Spurs’ attempt

By Oliver Fisher -

Yacine Adli continues to shine for Bordeaux as preparations continues for him joining AC Milan in the summer of 2022.

As Calciomercato.com reports, Adli was the great protagonist of Bordeaux’s away win at Saint-Etienne as he managed to get an assist late in the game, showing the technical characteristics that led Milan to sign him. Frederic Massara was the main admirer of Adli and he persisted with the operation despite an €18m asking price plus bonuses.

Milan’s strategy for Adli was clear right from the start of the negotiation: Massara and Maldini had quickly reached an agreement with Sissoko, the player’s agent, over a four-year contract at €1.5m net plus bonuses per season.

Then, the director worked with Bordeaux to try to obtain a substantial discount compared to the first request and Tottenham tried to enter the running, but not before Milan closed the operation for €8m plus easily reachable bonuses that could reach a final figure of €10m.

The agreement to give Adli back on loan for another season was decisive for the outcome of the operation and now the 21-year-old will have the opportunity to grow again by playing continuously. Milan are following him closely match by match, and they like what they see.
