There had been growing calls for Yacine Adli to get more playing time but the playmaker did not exactly grab his chance with both hands against Hellas Verona last night.

There was a lot of excitement and curiosity to see the Frenchman in action after only brief glimpses following an excellent preseason campaign, but unfortunately the former Bordeaux man ended up making ‘too many mistakes’ in possessions and ‘did not completely convince’.
Of course at 22 years old and with a new club, a new country and a whole new lot of expectations to adapt to it was always going to take time for Adli to settle, but he did not do anything to suggest he absolutely must start over Brahim Diaz or Charles De Ketelaere moving forward.
I do wonder how his performance would have changed if bennacer was playing instead of Krunic. Our middle field was all over the place, left a massive gap that was exploited, and hurt our defense. Adli has talent but the lack of tactics was also showcased

Pioli set this guy up to fail. Football is a matter of synergy, immediately I saw Krunic in the lineup alongside Adli I got the message. Now all the clamour for this guy to play will die down.
If the coach wanted to be fair, why not play a 4-3-3 formation since it would have suited all the midfield players we have currently?

I’m with you. I think tho, some of us want to see playing the young guys (Adil, Pobega, CDK and back then to some extend Hauge) because of the potential they have. With Krunic, this is as good as you get. Which is good, he’s a good soldier but this is as high as he can go.
Krunic right now can perform consistently better than say Adli, but if he realizes his potential, it wont be long.

To my mind, the snag is that he doesn’t seem as versatile as the others and the only spot he seems to be able to occupy is that of Trequartista (well, it’s what Pioli seems to think at least).
In Pioli’s system it could be a huge issue
I am not judging Adli or his talent after this game.
I just say that he is not ready yet.
I hope he will get there soon but at the moment playing him is a gamble.
He wasn‘t consistent last year in a Bordeaux side that was relegated and we cannot expect consistency this year in a new enviroment. He needs time to realise his potential and only time will tell if he will be able to realise it.
As for CDK , he is much more present with good high pressing and very few lost balls. He creates many problems for defenders and had already a lot of key passes his teammates unfortunatley didn‘t convert. He is on a totaly different lvl at the moment compared to Adli.
Adli has the best vision since Pirlo. He is always looking for the assist that leads to goal. He eats CDK for lunch in that aspect.
He needs more playing time to incorporate better into the module.

It wasn’t comparison to Pirlo but the people AFTER Pirlo. Just look what our playmakers have been since him. I can give two hints on what type of “quality” players there has been since Pirlo: Montolivo & Biglia. I rest my case. 🙂

Just for comparison, Milan spent 8 mil on Adli, a year and a half ago from relegation French league team.
While Napoli spent 10 mil + bonuses on Kvaratskhelia and Benfica spent 10 mil + bonuses on Enzo Fernandez. Both stars in their leagues prior to the moves Both are younger than Adli and they are immediate stars in their new clubs, new leagues, new countries. While Adli can’t get on the field and we saw last night why he can’t get on the field and why Pioli has been reluctant to play him.

I don’t bash all our players , i only bash those who in my opinion are not performing up to the Milan standards.
It’s not only after one game. I actually watched him last year too when he got benched in the 2nd part of the season when his team was fighting for survival. Adli also played before off the bench, and most importantly his own coach Pioli doesn’t think he is good otherwise he would play him.
What’s there that doesn’t make sense , i literally compared him with 2 other players with similar valuation and age who are balling out unlike him
No i wouldn’t sell CDK because he’s actually been pretty good. If we had players around him that were good at finishing chances the man could have had at least 5 assists by now
