Agent confirms Giroud ‘never wanted to think about leaving’ Milan after Everton’s attempt

By Oliver Fisher -

Olivier Giroud’s agent Vincenzo Morabito has confirmed that the striker has never had any thoughts of leaving AC Milan amid rumours linking Everton with a late move.

The French centre-forward was one of the great protagonists of the Scudetto victory last season and has scored some very important goals since joining from Chelsea, and what now seems most likely is that he extends his deal by another year.

However, Sky (via MilanNews) reported that relegation-threatened Everton tried to turn Giroud’s head in January by offering him a contract worth £8.5m net per season, but both Milan and Giroud made it clear that he would not be interested in leaving Milan for Liverpool.

Morabito has now shed some light on what the future holds for Giroud and refused to give much away about the approach that came from Everton at the end of the window.

“I can only say that he never wanted to think about leaving AC Milan,” he said (via PianetaMilan).

“There is a good relationship with the club and with the fans. What comes out of England are situations that I want to avoid commenting on. There is a contract until June.

“Milan themselves have never considered parting with the player. It’s always a pleasure that a player almost considered finished at this age goes to the World Cup and scores four goals.

“In the league he is giving a lot, last year he was decisive and gave Milan many points. He always scores big goals.”
