Agent of Castillejo responds to rumours of Villarreal return

By Oliver Fisher -

Samu Castillejo’s agent has confirmed that his client will stay at Milan despite recent rumours linking him with a return to Spain.

Speculation earlier on Tuesday suggested that former club Villarreal were keen on bringing Castillejo back to the Estadio de la Cerámica a year after selling him to Milan in an €18m deal.

The Spanish forward struggled found opportunities to play out wide under Gennaro Gattuso last season, amassing four goals and two assists in 31 league appearances last season.

However there is a new boss in charge, and with it doubts have emerged as to whether Castillejo can adapt to Marco Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 system.

The player’s agent – Manuel Garcia Quilón – cooled rumours of an exit earlier this month, and now another of his representatives has been forced to comment on the rumours once again.

Rafa Zurro was asked by Calciomercato.com how he is adapting under Giampaolo, and about links with Villarreal.

“Quilon has explained everything very well recently: Samu remains at Milan.

“A return to Sapin? It is not part of our plans. As Quilon also said, Castillejo will do great things at Milan.

“He is concentrated for this new season with the Rossoneri. He wants to do his best.”

On playing as a second striker, he responded: “Yes, he will do what the coach asks.”
