Agent of Milan man confirms no agreement over Aston Villa move – the Rossoneri’s stance

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of AC Milan goalkeeper Pepe Reina has confirmed that there is no agreement in place for his client to join Aston Villa.

Widespread reports have suggested that Reina is closing in on ending his 18-month spell with the Rossoneri and completing a move back to the Premier League on a six-month deal with option for an extra year based on survival from relegation.

We reported earlier on Thursday that Milan will save €10million gross thanks to the departure of the 37-year-old plus Fabio Borini, but that the club will return to the market for a new goalkeeper to replace Reina.

A first exploratory survey was carried out for Marco Sportiello, who is currently at Atalanta and has made just two appearances in all competitions this season for the Bergamo club.

Now, his agent Manuel Quilon has offered an update on the situation while leaving Casa Milan following a meeting with the club’s leaders.

“No, there’s no agreement,” he told Sky Italia. “We continue to negotiate, but the Rossoneri would like to bring in a replacement first.”
