Allegri aims jab at Milan over points deduction after top four spot is secured

By Oliver Fisher -

Juventus head coach Max Allegri aimed a jab at AC Milan after their 1-0 win over the Bianconeri at the Allianz Stadium last night.

It has not been the best fortnight for Juve, who were dumped out of the Europa League by Sevilla at the semi-final stage, and then lost 4-1 to Empoli in Serie A not long after they had been handed a 10-point deduction which threw them out of the top four.

It left them needing a miracle to get back in, starting with winning their last two games of the season, but Olivier Giroud’s first half header was the only goal of the game in Turin as Milan won to secure a spot in Europe’s top club competition.

Allegri spoke to DAZN after the game, reacting to the confirmation that Juve will not be in the Champions League next season, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

On having pride: “After the match I thanked the boys who had an important and extraordinary season which should end with honour in Udine. I don’t wish a season like this on anyone. Add points, subtract points, on and off the pitch…

“Tonight there’s nothing to talk about. It was an anomalous season, then if you look at the standings and you say that Juventus had a bad season, we have to accept it but we don’t accept it because Juventus got 69 points on the pitch.”

On the three attacking players: “We ran out of energy in Sevilla, the season ended there. We also did well tonight and then we made a mistake in marking and Giroud scored an extraordinary goal.

“But there’s no point in talking about tonight’s match because the season was anomalous. Another group of players would have scored 50 and not 69 points. Having said that, we scored 69 points on the pitch and at the moment we’d be in the Champions League.”

What Juve need to rebound: “Now I need to rest: the sooner we break away, the better. We need to go to Udine to honour the game. We will calmly make choices and try to start again. However, it’s not all to be thrown away.

“What we cannot do is not keep the good base to build Juventus’ future. Let’s hope that this year, before 20 August, they’ll tell us if there will be any more penalty points and they won’t shoot us for the whole season.”

Why are you staying at Juventus? “Because we did a good job. This year we let five young players play. If I knew it was difficult to win when I came back, I’m not that stupid. I’ve always said that Juventus are always built to win according to what you say but it’s not always like this.

“There are teams that haven’t been in the top four for six years. Juventus’ season is a bankruptcy, but we’re in third place, we’ve played two semi-finals.

“We have to be strong: football gives and takes away. This year they took away a lot from us. Some teams are in the Champions League because they took 10 points from us.”

On ambitions: “Let’s not confuse being ready to win with ambition which, for Juve, is always to win. We had a nine-year cycle where we won a lot and now we haven’t won for three years. From me I thanked the guys.”

  1. “Some teams are in the Champions League because they took 10 points from us.”

Well… “They” wouldn’t have taken 10 points from you if you hadn’t cheated and falsified financial transactions. You get what you deserve, cheating bastards. It would only be fair that UEFA also banned you for 2-3 seasons.

    1. I think he’s right, 10 point penalty was unfair. They should have been relegated to Serie B. What if UEFA don’t ban them this session, they might be snatching someone’s European spot.

    2. Well summarized!
“Losers talk about how it could have been, while winners go home and fucckk the prom queen.”
      Sean Connery

  2. I do feel it’s been handled terribly by the officials, no way should points deductions be being added and taken away like this with a few games to go. Especially for charges that are not specifically related to something from this season.

Hopefully Milan beat Verona and Juve can’t beat Udinese and then the 10 points is real on paper anyway.

Anyway, the most enjoyable part of their rule breaking (for me) is that they did it all in order to overpay massive egos like Ronaldo who ended up making the club worse anyway.

  3. ‘Some teams are in the Champions League because they took 10 points from us”

So why don’t, you explain? Why did they take 10 points from you?🤔🤣 You think, it’s for fun?

  4. FVCK you, Allegri, plain and simple. You’re just a bitter and pathetic clown, and you and your goddamned cheatin’ side can go to the deepest bowels of HELL.

  5. 5 young players.

    Fair play to Allegri.

He’s one of the only coaches in Serie A who gives younger players chances.

At Milan he gave De Sciglio and El Shaaraway their breaks. Loved those two players.

Gatti, Miretti and Fagioli seek like really interesting players and great additions to Italy.

    1. Brah, Milan squad is literally build on young players..
In the last few years our lord Pioli lauched more young players that crapllegri did in his entire carrer.
Gatti is 24 not really a young player and Miretti and Fagioli would gotten a lot less minutes if Pogba have been healthy…

      1. Allegri plays young Italians, that’s the difference. Pioli would rather play s##t like Origi than give a chance to El Hilali.

        1. Aha.. thats completely baseless. How do you know Hilali wasnt given an option to come to first team and decided to remaaain in primavera and play there?
You say Allegri plays young italians . How many of them played last season?
He’s playing them because he has to, because the club is in the craper, where it belongs..
Never before has be preferred younger players.
De Sciglio and El Shaaraway, mediocre players who never did anything of worth in their careers. Dont even play for italy. One has 3100 minutes the other 1300. Most of that is in friendlies

  6. Some teams are in champions league because they took 10 points from us. Mister allegri if you have a slightest bit of dignity left plz see your self in mirror what you and your management did in last years is beyond imagination. Robbing cheating the system and getting things done your way…..yeah with your slogan of juve is bulit to win either its fair or unfair…..Time to get your self medically checked…. btw we made a double on your juve this season thats sumps your arguments on milan.

  7. In some way I agree with him and in another I don’t. I agree the ways they added and subtracted the points during the course of the season was diabolical. It affected team selections. For instance, against Bologna we might not have swapped out the entire team if we were further down the table. The table positions can influence these choices.
In another way I disagree in that Juve a higher quality squad and therefore more points because they were able to manipulate the system to their advantage. They were able to inflate transfers and thereby the overall value of the club which directly translates into the amount of money a club can spend. You can buy better quality players like Vlahovic this way and it translates to points. So no, u may have won more points on the pitch but those points came from financial malpractice

  8. funny man. he says he won points on the pitch! how about the players who would never have played on the pitch if fraud had not happened off the pitch?
flawed thinking stems from flawed character, win AT ALL COSTS, FAIR AND FRAUDULENT. Just like the muntari goal, 1m into the net and declared not a goal, and budding of all people whose entire torso was in the net , said it was not in. At that point, it was clear: Milan have UCL in our DNA, Juve have fraud in theirs.

  9. Allegri, like all other arrogant Juve fans conveniently forget that without falsifying their revenue they would NOT have had the money to purchase the very players (i.e., Vlahovic) that helped them secure CL last season and fight for it this season AND they will still profit from the sales of those players. So they not only benefitted from CL qualification and all the $$ that comes with it, they will also STILL benefit when they sell the players for profit that they should not have been allowed to buy in the first place. And this arrogant a$$hole is still complaining??? LOL. What a disgrace for what was once such a prestigious club. 3 criminal scandals in the past 15-17 years? Shameful. I hope Allegri stays at Juve forever. He’s probably the only coach in the world that can make Valhovic go from consistent goal scorer to a bench player with zero confidence in less than 3 months. Grazie Max!

  10. One: Juve should be permanently banned after all the sht they pull.
Two: Alegri is was your bosses that screwed you and your players over not the league or officials.
Three: this whole episode is more proof of FIGC’s overall lack of institutional control and poor governance.

  11. Okay now he sounds like one of those socialist loons “They (the rich) took all the wealth and now we’re poor!”

  12. Other than the obvious thing others said here, that they got points deducted from them because they cheated to secure a competitive advantage (e.g. Vlahovic), there’s one perfect response to Allegri:
“Sir, you say that Milan got undeservedly to the UCL, but see, Milan beat you twice this season, 2-0 and 1-0. If you say that Milan is so bad, what does this say about your team that lost twice to such a bad team? Hahahahaha.

  13. las trampas son algo normal para los juventinos, que se sienten agraviados porque les redujeron puntos, vaya cinismo…
