After the 0-0 draw at San Siro against Juventus, AC Milan have begun preparations for their next league match against Sassuolo away.

The game against Fabio Grosso’s side is a historically tough one that could prove crucial in the battle to qualify for the Champions League, a crucial objective for the club from every perspective (financial and sporting).

As Sky (via Calciomercato.com) report, coach Massimiliano Allegri decided to cancel one of the scheduled training sessions on Wednesday. The coach let the team rest in the afternoon, after the athletic, tactical and video review work carried out during the morning at the training centre.

A reward and some changes

Allegri was pleased with the work done by his squad and chose to reward them with the afternoon off. Meanwhile, during Thursday’s practice, keep an eye out for a couple of changes that could make their way into the Rossoneri’s tactical set-up.

Firstly, Ardon Jashari is expected to replace Luka Modric, whose season is over following facial surgery after sustaining a fractured cheekbone following a collision with Manuel Locatelli. The Swiss has been tried out in the deeper-lying role, and seems to be ahead of Samuele Ricci.

Secondly, Christopher Nkunku could get a chance to start as a second striker, supporting the centre-forward. This will allow Christian Pulisic to rest, as he has looked very out of sorts and has not scored since December 28.

      1. I don’t think the way he is being used adds anything. And, I always choose country over club, just as many Italians do wanting more Italian players. They also screwed him last year making him play the final game when he was injured. USMNT were not happy with that.

          1. Which isn’t ACM, is it? Also, I am more and more expecting him to leave. Looking at his heat maps for recent games he is so out of position and away from the goal. That’s Allegri. But, that doesn’t mean this is the right team for him

  1. Please put Pulisic on right wing so that he can produce GOALS ,create CHANCES for other teammates and certainly go 1 vs 1. Play him correctly and he will produce GOALS and ASSISTS for us like previous years. Allegri is defensive and lacks knowledge when it comes to creativity up front. LEAO is not a # 9 so get over it you stubborn man. Formation will not work next year unless changes take place.

  2. This is a day-old report, so it would be nice to have today’s update from practice (or did Allegri give them today off too, lol). It’s curious they wouldn’t need some extra work on set pieces, with Modric no longer available and the 20 year-old so ineffective. Incidentally, Pulisic was very productive at set pieces last year, racking up quite a few assists.
