Allegri explains why facing Milan will be ‘more difficult’ as he congratulates Pioli

By Oliver Fisher -

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri believes that the game against AC Milan tomorrow evening will be ‘more difficult’ because of the fact the Rossoneri lost to Chelsea in midweek.

Milan will be looking to bounce back from a difficult night at Stamford Bridge as they were well beaten on the night by Chelsea with Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reece James all scoring.

The Rossoneri are still battling an injury crisis ahead of welcoming Juve with Simon Kjaer, Davide Calabria, Alessandro Florenzi, Alexis Saelemaekers, Mike Maignan and Junior Messias all absent, but a better performance will be needed.

Allegri spoke at the pre-match press conference on the eve of the game against Milan and he previewed the clash, with his comments relayed by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it.

“We face each other as always, it’s Milan-Juventus, we play against the Italian champions, it will be a more difficult match than usual, they come from a bad defeat and they will want to make up for it in front of a full stadium. We have all the conditions to do well,” he said.

“We made a mistake with Salernitana, regardless of the valid goal not given. We got too nervous, it doesn’t have to happen because the season is long. After that game we got morally down in Monza and we lost.

“Now the important thing is to give continuity of results, to succeed you need a level performance. They have players of great technique and speed, they have Leao and they play in front of their fans, it will take personality.”

On Milan’s counter-attacks: “To avoid it you have to be good at not giving Leao the ball and space, but they also have Giroud, Diaz, De Ketelaere, we need to play a good game under the level of personality, mental strength and technique.”

On Pioli: “They are doing better because they have 4 points more. I can only congratulate Pioli for what he is doing and for the title he won last year.”
