Allegri praises ‘marvellous’ Milan for win at Napoli as example of reversing narrative

By Oliver Fisher -

Juventus head coach Max Allegri has pointed at AC Milan’s result against Napoli as an example of how no team can ever be written off by the media.

Milan went into the game at the Maradona as big underdogs given they failed to win a game in the entire month of March while Napoli were 23 points ahead in the standings and are coasting to the league title.

However, the Rossoneri scored two goals in each half as Rafael Leao scored either side of the interval, with Brahim Diaz and Alexis Saelemaekers adding the other goals in what was a memorable night.

Speaking at his press conference on the eve of the game against Inter in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, Allegri was asked about how the two-legged affair could change public perceptions, with his comments relayed by Il Bianconero.

“We hope to reach the final, we’ll do our best. Then in football you need to have a balance beyond the results, positive and negative. Now Juve are like this and Inter are in another position,” he said.

“Two games and the game changes public opinion. Look at Napoli-Milan. Everyone thought Milan were doomed and they went on to win the match in Naples in a marvellous way against a Napoli having an extraordinary season.

“Little by little. Balance must reign above all at Continassa. I hate those who it makes us easily enthusiastic and depressed. We need to be balanced, have the strength that nothing and no result should move us mentally.”

    He is a 100% right.
Media and fans get all hyped up after one good game or be all doom and gloom after one bad game. You gotta be able to see the big picture, the larger body of work.
Don’t just be a prisoner of the moment and have recency bias.
A player will have one good game after weeks and weeks of playing poorly and you hear people calling him great, buy him or pay him.
Or a player will have 1 bad game after playing consistently well and he gets called a bum and people are asking for his sale
