This season, AC Milan fell well short of expectations and Massimiliano Allegri is tasked with sorting the team out.
Few words can accurately describe this season for Milan, at least ones that have not been said already. In many ways, the Rossoneri fell short, but there were departmental failings almost everywhere, which is why the struggle was so great.
Allegri: The Saviour
Now, the hopes of a refresh are on the shoulders of Allegri. A man who has brought success so often, but now is tasked with something different, at least for now. What the Diavolo need is balance, especially with this summer shaping up to be one of big departures.
Of course, if something more is achieved, superb. However, with almost every big star linked with a move away, it is a case of doing the season right and preparing for a new era, rather than rushing it through.
Speaking about his former coach at the Festival of Serie A last night, Massimo Ambrosini explained Allegri’s big task for next season, as Milan News relays.
“When we worked together, the merit that we all recognised in him was precisely that of managing many personalities and valorising them within the dressing room.
“Milan still has strong players today, let’s not forget that. Allegri’s priority will be to valorise them and make them perform differently compared to what we saw this year.”
We lost a key midfielder, won’t replace him and now have a tired Allegri who will likely be sacked by December. What is there to like about this?
Tijjani is gone, Maignan wants to go, Leao and Theo as well…so who are the big personalities?
