Ambrosini highlights the two main reasons Milan struggled against Torino

By Oliver Fisher -

It was not a good night for AC Milan against Torino as they were beaten 2-1 to end a 17-game unbeaten run in away Serie A game, and Massimo Ambrosini has highlighted where the game was lost.

The damage was done in the first half by the home team at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino as Koffi Djidji glanced a header from a free-kick in off the far post to put them 1-0 up and then less than two minutes later Aleksei Miranchuk pounced on a loose ball to fire past Ciprian Tatarusanu via a deflection.

Junior Messias did get a goal back for the Rossoneri midway through the second half as he seized an error from Torino as Buongiorno and Milinkovic-Savic had a miscommunication, but in the end Pioli’s men limped to defeat.

Ambrosini spoke to DAZN at the end of the match to pick apart the failings of the Rossoneri starting with the missed chances in the early stages and touching on the midfield.

“Leao’s mistakes could have changed the match. Then Toro managed to control the game. Milan’s defeat is unexpected but Napoli are doing something extraordinary,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).

“Milan tonight also struggled to understand the movements to be made. Bennacer was missing tonight. He manages to clean up these situations.”

  1. This whole furore over a one goal defeat after a crazy few minutes is silly. See it as an isolated event for now. Torino scored twice from relatively low xG positions and ended the game behind Milan. Yes, creativity wasn’t excellent for Milan but on an average night those goals don’t both go in and Milan get at least one of their chances.

  2. We have to increase the amount of players that constitutes the core of this team. And these players should never be allowed to go somewhere else – give them competitive contracts and then build the team around them.

    Maignan
    Tomori
    Tonali
    Bennacer
    Leao

    *Kalulu is close

but as you can see, we don’t have much in the attacking dept – this is where we need to find one or two extremely strong players that we can build on.

    1 new strong Striker
    1 new strong RW
    1 new backup GK
    1 new CB

** and work on getting CDK firing on all cylinders!

  3. The two main reasons Milan lost: Rebic’s poor first touch and Pobega. Krunic even with his limitations is miles better. Sell Pobega at the window use the money to buy a legitimate midfielder or resign Leao.

    1. “The two main reasons Milan lost: Rebic’s poor first touch and Pobega.”

LOL. You lost any signs of credibility when you tried to push Leao’s MASSIVE failures to score on the shoulders of Rebic who actually gave everything on the pitch.

      1. Rebic was extremely poor, Pobega is crap, Osimen, Kvaradona they do miss chances, I am not making excuses for Leao, but one bad night is not enough for others not to perform

    2. Milan lost because of Leao. He is our best player no doubt but he had two great chances to score before they did and he missed both, that cost us the game.. no wonder people are comparing him to kvaratskhelia (because this guy scores most of his chances unlike Leao who needs to improve on his finishing so bad)

      1. Kvaradona scores with his eyes closed from 30 yards. There is no comparison. Napoli are the ones with the 150m player, not us. And they got him for 10m…
