Ambrosini believes Milan won ‘complicated’ Monza clash ‘thanks to their class’

AC Milan managed to find the back of the net four times last night and thus convincingly beat Monza in front of a big home crowd. However, the game was more complicated than the result suggests, as Massimo Ambrosini argues.

Brahim Diaz bagged a brace in the first half and thus paved the way for the Rossoneri, but the win wasn’t an easy one. Monza had several chances and arguably should have made it 1-1 in the first half, left with a free header from point-blank range.

Speaking to DAZN, as cited by MilanNews, former Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini highlighted that Milan certainly could have done better in managing the game. However, he believes their individual class won them the game.

“It was more complicated than what the result suggests. Monza moved very well on the pitch. Milan had a management of the game that wasn’t optimal in some situations, but they won thanks to the class of their players, such as Diaz and Origi,” he stated.

Given that Stefano Pioli rested quite a few players, it was nice to see the likes of Brahim Diaz and Divock Origi doing so well. Milan will need all hands on deck before the World Cup and last night’s result was a good start.
