Ancelotti’s words boost Milan’s Asensio pursuit: “I don’t know and I don’t care”

AC Milan have been boosted in their hopes of signing Marco Asensio as Carlo Ancelotti admitted he could well end up leaving Real Madrid.

Ancelotti spoke about Asensio after he scored in Real Madrid’s game against Elche last night and admitted that renewal of his expiring contract is far from certain, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“I see it clearly, I don’t know if he will stay here or not. I don’t know and I don’t care much. We have a very important challenge this season, so what interests me is that he is giving his contribution, as he did last year. I hope it continues like this, then the club will make the right decision,” he said.

The report adds that Real Madrid have so far offered Asensio a contract extension until 30 June 2027 and with a salary of just over €4m, which is a lower amount than the player expected.

Milan are ready to match that or even slightly better it, so the ball then passes to the player who will have to decide whether to listen to his heart and satisfy his desire to stay at Real Madrid – even at lower figures than he expected – or whether to try a new experience as a star at a club like Milan.

  1. I really respect Ancelotti after what he’s done for Milan. But it’s weird with the way he responds about one of his players with “I don’t know and i don’t care” statement as if the player just some kind of tools for him.

    1. Yep makes them play better and realize that they’re not bigger than the club… Unlike Pioli who keeps sugar-coating these flops we have around, making them even worse while asking for a higher pay.
