From Spain: Ancelotti wants Milan captain at Real Madrid – free transfer eyed

Alessio Romagnoli played from start in AC Milan’s encounter with Atletico Madrid mid-week and he was one of the best players. His future with the Rossoneri, however, is far from certain with an expiring contract.

Just a few days ago, Calciomercato.com reported that Milan are making progress regarding the renewal of their captain. The latter also seems willing to stay and the most likely outcome is that he will remain at the club, per the report.

However, things could obviously change if a big club were to come knocking, such as Real Madrid. According to DiarioGol, Carlo Ancelotti wants to reinforce the defence and has set his eyes on Romagnoli for next season.

Since the centre-back’s contract will expire in the summer, he could arrive at the Bernabeu side for free. Hopefully, Milan will reach an agreement for the renewal as Romagnoli has proved to be an important player, especially for depth with the tight schedule.
