Paulo Fonseca, Head Coach of AC Milan

Ancelotti sides with Fonseca after sacking but admits results are the key

Carlo Ancelotti has shown solidarity with Paulo Fonseca after he was sacked by AC Milan, but also admitted that it is part of the job of being a head coach.

News emerged in the build-up to the 1-1 draw against Roma last night that Fonseca might lose his job regardless of the result, and this morning a statement from the club confirmed that he has departed after just 200 days.

The peak of his time in charge might just be the game against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, when goals from Malick Thiaw, Alvaro Morata and Tijjani Reijnders propelled the Rossoneri to a crucial victory in the Champions League.

Ancelotti did an interview with Radio Rai and he learned of Fonseca’s official sacking while on the air, speaking about the news after the meeting earlier in the season.

“I remain of the opinion that firing the coach is part of his job. I have been fired a thousand times, when there are problems in the team the responsibility falls on one man alone, and that is the coach,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).

“It’s not right but unfortunately it is like this, a coach in his job is rather alone, especially in moments of difficulty. You can discuss the method, but in the end the result is that the coach stops coaching and is fired.

“I take his side, this happens when you do this job, but they say that when one door closes, another opens. It’s a shame, but he’ll get over it.

“We faced them a couple of months ago, they played very well and deserved to win, probably they didn’t find the consistency that the management was asking for.

“The adaptation of the new coach and players must be in line with the results, especially at big clubs like Milan.”

      1. Old? Who was old? Majority of the players were in their prime under Carlo back then .

What am I yapping about? I’m yapping that Carlo didn’t win many scudeto trophies with a very strong side. Am I wrong? Did we win more than one?

        1. Do you consider opposition team during Ancelotti era at Milan?

          Di Nateli udinese

          Miccoli Parlamo

Inter zlantana Adriano Obefemi Martins Maicon

          Nedved Piero Trezeguet Juventus

          Mutu Luca Toni Fiorentina

De rossi Totti Mancini Perotta Roma

Milan then have the most oldest players especially in defence facing younger strong and best attackers in Seria A then before Kaka joined. With players such as costacuta Maldini can’t keep up Obafemi Martins pace, with players lie Emerson in midfield

Galliani with his old players on free transfer .. lol

    1. Yea, meanwhile he was winning against stronger teams in the CL. But you can’t win in Italy where clear goals are not given to you just so Juve can end on top. We all know how things were functioning in Seria A at that time.

      1. Stronger teams? What team was stronger that Milan won over? Was 06/07 united a stronger team than 06/07 Milan? I don’t think so

    2. Yea you’re forgetting that’s prime Serie A. Juve, Inter, Roma and Lazio had stellar teams. Juve starting lineup was Buffon, zambrotta, Cannavaro, Thuram, Balza; camronesi, Emerson (the good one), Nedved ;del Piero, Trezeguet Ibra. And that’s off top, I’m sure forgetting some good players .
I do however feel we should have won more league titles but it was clear our teAm was built for Europe. We had players with more flair and technique than any other team. It’s why we won in Europe and they didn’t

      1. I’m not forgetting anything. I know all that and factor it in when I wrote my comment.

You said it yourself. We could’ve won more. I agree.

          1. Nah. I’m not. I can’t help it if people interpret it that way tho.
I didn’t write a single thing about the opposition, but in my head it was pretty obvious they were strong as well. Because that’s a historical fact.

Tho I wonder. If I’d go check season by season and game by game where was it that Milan lost points domestically. With the rivals or with the bottom feeders.

        1. What doesn’t make sense is your comment. You prefer scudetto over europe & world club trophy while Milan track record is better outside Italy.

          1. My comment makes perfect sense.
You’re the guy picking A or B for some reason.

You know what we call that? Making a strawman.
You just make something up and now you want me to participate in your delusional.
To which I say, I want 3 CL trophies, 3 cups, 3 cups again and 3 scudeto cups.
            That’s what I want and that’s what I prefer.

            Happy?

    3. Juventus,Inter and Roma also very strong in that era, you are yapping too much trying to talking shit about Ancelotti, he also makes it to the UCL final 3 times and if not for the istanbul miracles we could won 3 UCL under him, and he also the coach that won the most UCL, idiot like you always yapping too much

      1. I write something that is true (Carlo didn’t win many domestic titles) and you took that like some personal attack and proceed to white knight Carlo.

        You got some issues brah.

    4. still Don Carlo proving he’s the best in other clubs too, up until now. where u clowning here & there like jealous b!tch.
he’s legend & i very thankful to him for what he has done as coach & player for Milan.

      1. I’m not clowning, I’m not jealous.
I think Carlo is an excellent coach.
You’re just another white knight beta m0r0n.

        But we can dance.
He won trophies at Milan, Bayern and real. Also won something at Chelsea but I hate that club let’s ignore it.
So the 3 clubs in question were European powerhouses long before Carlo ever coached them.
Not exactly rocket science to win titles when you’re I the best clubs coaching the best players, is it?

Could fonseca win anything with bayern?
Seems to me kompany, a dude with much less exp, is doing Just fine there.

Guys like you have rocks for brains so I doubt you’ll make a meaningful reply. Or a reply at all.

        1. Another m0r0n who think a big team could just win anything coached by just anyone LMFAO, get a bigger mirror before insulting others you with your pea sized braincells

          1. You dìck is pea sized and it smells like a month old cabbage you left in that corner in the pantry.
            Better get that checked out.

    5. Yup. It’s not spoken of much. But Carlo is clearly more if a cup coach. He’s recently found more league success in La Liga, but when you have a team like Madrid in a league like La Liga where there are only 2-3 title-capable teams your odds of winning are much greater if you are in charge of one of them. This period has also coincided with Barcelona’s decline. And now this season Atletico has popped back up. Nevertheless, Carlo will still go down as one of the best ever.

  1. With how many UCL titles❓❓🤔🤔🙄when last did Milan won UCL or played in a UCL final after he left❓😁😁
Anyway Happy new year to u👍✅
