Antonello says new San Siro is Inter’s ‘Plan A’ but ‘they must wait’ for Milan

Inter’s corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello has said that Inter are still focused on a new San Siro with AC Milan but now they have to wait for the Rossoneri to evaluate La Maura.

Speaking during an interview with TMW after a meeting with the ECA on the stadium issue (via Milan News), he stressed the Nerazzurri’s desire to continue sharing a stadium with Milan.

This is in the wake of Milan looking more and more likely to branch out on their own. The site at La Maura near San Siro is now being evaluated.

“For us Plan A is San Siro together with AC Milan, after three and a half years of hard work with approval in principle by the City Council, with talks to be deepened, giving up such a project is something we have to think about a little more. That is the main alternative,” Antonello said.

Antonello pointed out that Inter cannot now progress with their plans until Milan have analysed La Maura to see if they are serious about that idea or not.

“We are also waiting for Milan’s analysis on La Maura, but it seems to me that Snaitech has made a statement clarifying the situation on the airfield. Inter, however, evaluates several avenues, we have a plan B that protects the interests of the club and our fans,” he said.

An area that has been mentioned in the past for a joint stadium is Sesto San Giovanni, meaning Inter could possibly go there on their own should Milan do the same.
