Argentinian midfielder’s agent confirms Milan contacts in the summer window

The agent of Argentinian midfielder Carlos Alvarez has confirmed that there were contacts with AC Milan in the summer for a transfer that never materialised due to the arrival of Charles De Ketelaere.

Speaking during an interview with Tuttosport (via Milan News), Sebastian Lopez explained that there were some serious discussions in the summer between Milan and the player for a move away from Racing Club but it did not happen.

“I had conversations with the directors of both teams last summer. It was explained to me how they were monitoring Carlos,” Lopez admitted.

He then added that the decision to sign Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge meant that Milan were not going to also sign Alvarez.

“Then in the last transfer market the Rossoneri bought De Ketelaere, but he is a player who was already playing in Europe, and I think this influenced the Diavolo’s final decision,” he explained.

The 19-year-old could potentially end up playing for Inter instead if the Nerazzurri were to reignite their interest in the near future as Lopez confirmed that they had been watching him in the summer too.

“As for Inter, on the other hand, in addition to the various appreciations at the time, they continued to follow him, as shown by Dario Baccin’s trip to South America,” Lopez said.

Alvarez joined Racing’s youth academy back in 2017 and has been part of the first team setup since 2020, making almost 50 appearances in the process.
